Business Central Techno-Functional Consultant — Contract

Location: South West London
Contract Length: Circa 12 months
IR35 Status: [TBC — to confirm]
Rate: [TBC — competitive, dependent on experience]
Start Date: [ASAP]

The Opportunity

We're recruiting on behalf of a client based in South West London who is undertaking a major transformation project: migrating their Microsoft Dynamics Business Central environment from an on-premise deployment (version 8 / NAV 2015) to Azure-based cloud Business Central (current release).
This isn't a routine version upgrade. The client's existing environment includes a significant volume of customisation built on the legacy on-premise architecture, meaning none of it lifts across directly - it all needs to be properly assessed, understood, and rebuilt for the cloud platform. We're looking for someone who can own that translation from both a functional and technical standpoint.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the functional and configuration side of the migration from on-premise Business Central to Azure cloud
  • Assessing the client's existing customisations and advising on what can be retained, rebuilt, or retired in the move to cloud
  • Identifying and explaining the functional differences between the legacy on-premise version and the current cloud platform
  • Advising on Business Central licensing models appropriate for the client's post-migration setup
  • Working closely with the client's technical/infrastructure team, who are handling the underlying cloud and Azure setup
  • Acting as the go-to Business Central product expert throughout the engagement - flagging quirks, gaps, and version-specific nuances before they become problems

  • Experience with both older, on-premise Business Central/NAV environments and current cloud Business Central, including a solid understanding of how functionality and customisation approaches differ between them
  • Comfortable enough with the technical side of BC to assess and advise on customisations, even where a separate team is executing the technical build
  • Strong working knowledge of Business Central licensing and licensing models
  • Prior experience on an on-premise-to-cloud Business Central migration is highly desirable
  • Available for a contract role of circa 12 months, based around South West London
