The Department for Education has announced that the British Council is set to take on the role of National Agency for Erasmus+.
In December the UK and EU arrived at a political agreement that the UK would rejoin the Erasmus+ scheme in 2027. That agreement has now been legally formalised under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement.
The British Council has a longstanding commitment to supporting international exchange. It was a lead partner in the Erasmus+ UK National Agency from 2014-20, where Erasmus+ made a significant contribution to the UK's cultural relations activities, funding 8,091 projects, engaging 583,757 UK participants, and awarding around €1.1 billion to UK organisations.
Job Title: E+ Associate Business Intelligence Analyst
Pay Band: PB7
Contract Duration: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract with possibility of extension
Location: London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast
Salary: £32,381 annual Gross Salary

Role Purpose
The Associate Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst will support the development and delivery of data analysis and data projects, delivering high-quality performance reporting and insight for the Erasmus+ programme. The role involves working closely with the wider data function and aligned to central DEP standards, and support delivery of KPIs data, dashboards, visualisations and management information, under supervision, for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring outputs are accurate, consistent, and timely. The postholder will help the team translate complex data into clear, actionable insights to support performance monitoring, identify risks and opportunities, and drive continuous improvement across the programme.
Main Accountabilities But Not Limited To The Following
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of Erasmus+ performance reporting frameworks, ensuring alignment with programme objectives, KPIs, and DfE/EC requirements.
- Collect, prepare, and manage data from multiple programme systems and delivery partners, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and fitness for purpose.
- Support the BI and Reporting Analyst in translating complex programme data into clear narratives and actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports (e.g. Power BI) to support programme monitoring and reporting.
- Support teams in identifying key operational and performance questions, defining data needs to inform decision-making.
- Conduct analysis on programme delivery, participant journeys, and operational performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure all data and reporting activities comply with data governance, ethics, and privacy standards.
- Collaborate with data, digital, and technology teams to improve data quality, integration, and accessibility across Erasmus+.
- Contribute to wider British Council data best practice and learning, ensuring alignment with central DEP approaches.

Requirements Of The Role
Role Specific Skills:
- Data visualisation (Awareness): Develop and use appropriate data visualisations to tell meaningful stories and address relevant to set goals.
- Applying statistical and analytical tools and techniques (Awareness): Support the development of statistical and analytical insights and reports.
- Communicating between the technical and non-technical (Awareness): Explain complex analysis clearly to diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Data ethics and privacy (Awareness): Identify appropriate channels to discuss ethical issues, with support.
- Data management (Awareness): Follow governance standards, policies, and procedures for data access, sharing, and protection.
- Data preparation and linkage (Awareness): Clean, prepare, and link data, resolving data quality issues and ensuring reproducibility.
- Developing code for analysis (Awareness): Write and document analysis code to support reproducible, reliable reporting and insights.
- Managing a data project (Awareness): Deliver intended outcomes for small data projects.
Minimum/essential
Role Specific Knowledge and Experience:
- Significant experience in BI analysis or data analysis.
- Data visualisation skills, with experience creating dashboards and reports.
- Strong quantitative analysis skills, with proficiency in tools such as Excel, Power BI, analytics platforms and SQL.
- Experience maintaining and tracking metrics for programme performance and audiences.
- Ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Understanding of data privacy and security principles.
- Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for diverse audiences.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Desirable
- Qualification(s) in data analysis or equivalent.
- Familiarity with visualisation tools such as Power BI.
- Experience working in a global or multicultural context.
- Understanding of Agile ways of working and product development cycles.
- Experience analysing Google Analytics (GA4) data.
Language Requirements
The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal fluency in English is required.
Education
Degree or equivalent work experience.

This is a hybrid role – primarily working from the office (3 days a week) with home working flexibility.
