GreatThings is working with a luxury clothing retailer seeking an experienced E-commerce Site Optimisation Manager to lead the day-to-day optimisation of its European Shopify sites for an initial three-month contract.
You’ll get up to speed with an established e-commerce operation, review site performance and customer journeys, and turn your findings into practical improvements. The role combines hands-on work across Shopify and Nosto with collaboration across a number of internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day optimisation of the existing EU Shopify e-commerce sites.
- Review current site performance, customer journeys metrics and conversion funnels to identify areas for improvement.
- Manage and optimise onsite merchandising, navigation, search, content and promotional activity.
- Use Nosto to deliver and optimise product recommendations, merchandising and customer experiences.
- Analyse e-commerce performance and customer behaviour to identify opportunities for growth.
- Work closely with the wider merch, brand and digital teams to ensure the sites are commercially effective.
- Identify quick wins as well as longer-term optimisation opportunities, prioritising activity based on commercial impact.
- Monitor key KPIs including conversion rate, average order value, revenue, traffic, engagement and customer journeys.
- Ensure existing sites are maintained to a high standard and that issues affecting the customer journey are identified and resolved quickly.
- Provide clear reporting and recommendations on performance and optimisation activity.

Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Strong experience managing and optimising e-commerce websites, ideally within a fast-paced retail environment.
- Proven hands-on experience with Shopify.
- Experience with Nosto, particularly search, product recommendations and onsite merchandising.
- Commercially minded with the ability to translate data and customer behaviour into actionable improvements.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership from day one.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work at pace and prioritise effectively within a short-term contract.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable:
- German language skills – ideally fluent or conversational German.
- Experience managing e-commerce sites across multiple European markets.
- Experience with international/localised Shopify stores.
- Experience in retail, fashion or another consumer focused e-commerce environment.
The initial contract is 3 months on a freelance basis, starting ASAP, with an immediate focus on identifying quick wins and delivering measurable improvements to site performance.
