E-commerce QA Engineer
As an E-commerce QA Engineer, you will be responsible for hands-on manual testing of customer-facing e-commerce storefronts for direct-to-consumer and retail brands. You will approach each website as both a real shopper and a highly detail-oriented tester, going beyond standard test cases to identify subtle bugs, broken experiences, inconsistencies, and usability issues that others may overlook.
Our client is a growing e-commerce technology company that helps consumer brands deliver reliable online shopping experiences. Following site updates and releases, the QA team thoroughly reviews storefronts across the full customer journey and provides clear, actionable findings that can be shared with internal teams and clients.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys exploratory testing, investigating digital experiences, and finding the small issues that can negatively affect shoppers or conversion. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, highly observant, and comfortable independently testing a storefront without needing step-by-step instructions.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough manual QA testing of live, customer-facing e-commerce storefronts, with particular focus on U.S. storefront experiences.
- Review complete customer journeys across homepage, navigation, search, collections, product detail pages, cart, checkout, and other key shopping flows.
- Test storefronts across desktop, mobile web, Android, iOS, and major browsers.
- Perform functional, regression, smoke, exploratory, usability, end-to-end, responsive, cross-browser, and cross-device testing.
- Go beyond predefined test cases to identify subtle functional issues, edge cases, visual inconsistencies, broken interactions, and UX problems that may be easy to miss.
- Test websites from a real customer perspective, considering how different users may interact with the storefront and where friction or unexpected behavior could occur.
- Investigate issues across different browsers, devices, screen sizes, user journeys, and scenarios to determine when and how problems occur.
- Identify issues that may affect product discovery, navigation, customer experience, checkout, conversion, or overall storefront reliability.
- Capture clear evidence of findings, including screenshots and screen recordings, and provide enough context for the issue to be reproduced.
- Prepare concise, structured QA reports following the team's reporting format, clearly explaining the issue, customer impact, reproduction steps, and expected versus actual behavior.
- Identify patterns and recurring issues across storefronts rather than focusing only on isolated defects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
