The Department for Education has announced that the British Council is set to take on the role of National Agency for Erasmus+.

In December the UK and EU arrived at a political agreement that the UK would rejoin the Erasmus+ scheme in 2027. That agreement has now been legally formalised under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement.

The British Council has a longstanding commitment to supporting international exchange. It was a lead partner in the Erasmus+ UK National Agency from 2014-20, where Erasmus+ made a significant contribution to the UK's cultural relations activities, funding 8,091 projects, engaging 583,757 UK participants, and awarding around €1.1 billion to UK organisations.

Role Purpose

The Training & Cooperation Activities Manager is responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of Training and Cooperation Activities (TCA) under Erasmus+ and supporting any network activities as appropriate. Reporting to the Senior Training & Cooperation Activities Manager, the role ensures that activities are effectively planned and implemented to improve programme quality, strengthen participation, and support collaboration between organisations and stakeholders.

The role translates strategic priorities into high-quality, deliverable activity plans, ensuring that training, thematic events, networking activities, and evaluation exercises are aligned with programme objectives and European Commission priorities. It ensures that activities are well-designed, participant-focused, and deliver clear value in terms of learning, capacity-building, and partnership development.

The postholder leads the end-to-end management of assigned TCA and network activities, including planning, delivery, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation. The role ensures that activities are delivered efficiently and in line with programme rules, contributing to improved accessibility, participation, and overall effectiveness of programme delivery.

Working closely with the Senior Manager, peers, and internal teams, the role supports continuous improvement by using feedback, data, and evaluation insights to refine activity design and delivery, while ensuring compliance with funding, governance, and data protection requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
