Charity People is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of the Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) for an experienced Executive Assistant to provide maternity cover for this pivotal role at the heart of the organisation.

The Florence Nightingale Foundation develops nursing and midwifery leaders at every stage of their careers, enabling them to stay, thrive, lead and transform health and care. Through leadership programmes, scholarships, policy influence and professional development, the Foundation supports healthcare professionals across the UK and internationally.

This is an opportunity to join a highly respected charity at an exciting stage of growth and transformation. Working closely with the CEO, Executive Team and Board, you'll play a central role in ensuring the smooth running of governance, executive support and organisational coordination.

Job Details

  • Role: Executive Assistant (Maternity Cover)
  • Salary: £39,898
  • Contract: Fixed-Term Contract (up to 12 months)
  • Hours: 35 hours per week
  • Location: London SE1 with hybrid working
  • Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
  • Interviews: October 2026
  • Start Date: November 2026 preferred, allowing for handover with the current postholder

About the Role

This is a varied and fast-paced Executive Assistant role supporting a busy CEO and Executive Team within a small but ambitious charity.

You'll provide high-level executive support while also coordinating Board and Committee activity, helping to ensure effective governance, communication and organisational efficiency. The role suits someone who enjoys taking ownership, thrives on variety and can confidently work with senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing proactive support to the CEO, Executive Team and Board Chair
  • Managing complex diaries, meetings and travel arrangements
  • Preparing presentations, reports, board papers and briefing documents
  • Coordinating Board, Committee and AGM meetings
  • Taking accurate minutes and tracking actions
  • Supporting trustee recruitment, induction and development
  • Maintaining governance records and supporting compliance requirements
  • Supporting organisational projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Acting as a trusted point of coordination across the Foundation

About You

We're looking for an experienced Executive Assistant who is highly organised, adaptable and able to work confidently with senior leaders.

The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change quickly. You'll have excellent judgement, strong attention to detail and the confidence to manage competing demands while maintaining a calm and professional approach.

You'll bring:

  • Previous Executive Assistant experience supporting senior executives
  • Experience supporting Boards, Committees or governance processes
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Experience preparing papers, reports and meeting documentation
  • High levels of discretion and professionalism
  • Confidence working independently and using your initiative
  • Strong digital and technology skills
  • Experience working within a charity, membership body, healthcare or public sector environment would be advantageous
