ROLE SUMMARY:

Wetherby Pembridge is the latest demonstration of Inspired's commitment to providing the highest academic excellence, curriculum rigour, extensive premium co-curricular facilities, and the very best support in accessing the top universities in the world.

This exceptional co-educational senior school opened in Olympia, London in September 2025, providing students with access to Inspired’s global best practices in teaching and learning, as well as global exchange and summer camp programmes, providing students with even more opportunities to transform and broaden their horizons. Opening initially with students in Years 7, 8 and 9, the school will expand over the next few years to educate students in Years 7-13.

The school builds on the academic success and heritage of our Wetherby and Pembridge Hall Pre-Prep and Prep Schools. Wetherby Pembridge provides a premium, academic senior school pathway for students who are looking for an academically excellent, London co-educational senior school.

We are seeking to appoint a committed and dynamic teacher who can deliver inspirational lessons across all aspects of the curriculum to our EAL students. Based in our dedicated Academic Support and EAL department, the successful candidate will have the ability to motivate, enthuse and influence our students, to ensure optimum levels of student learning and achievement across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. They will also be required to play an active role in the extra-curricular activities run by the Faculty and/or elsewhere in the school.

This is a part time role (0.2 FTE) starting ASAP.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning, Management and Teaching:

  • Teach allocated pupils 1:1 and in small groups to achieve progression of learning through:
    • Identifying clear teaching objectives and specifying how they will be taught and assessed; this will include EAL-specific programmes, such as PET, FCE and CAE, and helping students to achieve the IELTS grades necessary for their onwards education.
    • Setting tasks which are multi-sensory, achievable to build confidence and consolidate learning;
    • Challenging pupils and ensuring high levels of interest;
    • Liaising with class teachers and other professionals, such as other Academic Support teachers or Class Teachers to help the progress of the EAL students;
    • Delivering effective multi-sensory teaching with a range of resources and best use of available time;
    • Monitoring and intervening to ensure sound learning and discipline.

Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting:

  • Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve future teaching;
  • Working with the EAL Coordinator to help develop a programme of support for our EAL students.
  • Working with the EAL Coordinator to help to guide SLT on the suitability of prospective EAL students.
  • Working closely with the Boarding Houseparents to ensure that boarding students are appropriately supported during their supervised prep sessions. Providing guidance to subject teachers to help support these students at this time.
  • Advising any student who require to sit the IELTS qualification, or similar, and providing guidance on how to study to achieve the required level.
  • Prepare and present informative reports to parents.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner, using a variety of methods and techniques to engage, motivate, support and challenge students.
  • Have an excellent rapport with students and be involved in the pastoral care of the school.
  • Ensure that lessons are well-planned in accordance with the schemes of work for each course and individual student progression needs.
  • Set and assess work in line with the School’s assessment policy which sets high expectations for students, providing positive and meaningful feedback which enables students to improve.
  • Report accurately and honestly on progress in line with the School’s reporting schedules.
  • Contribute to the raising of professional standards in the EAL department, including the development of curriculum and schemes of work, keeping abreast of new developments and research and the sharing of good practice.
  • Participate in the wider life of the School, including trips, activities and in boarding.
  • Fulfil administrative duties in both an efficient and effective manner.
