Role Purpose
The Graduate Quality, Health and Safety Engineer will join the business as an early-career professional and develop into a competent Quality, Health and Safety Engineer through structured training, mentoring, and practical experience. The role will support the maintenance and continuous improvement of quality, health, and safety standards across the site, helping to ensure safe working practices, reliable processes, compliant operations, and a strong culture of continuous improvement.
The Graduate Quality, Health and Safety Engineer will work closely with production teams, engineering, maintenance, supply chain, warehouse, and site leadership. The role may also involve contact with suppliers, customers, auditors, and external training providers as experience develops.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of Quality, Health and Safety management systems.
- Assist with internal audits, workplace inspections, and process reviews to ensure compliance with company procedures and relevant standards.
- Help investigate incidents, non-conformances, near misses, and customer or supplier quality issues, supporting root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Contribute to risk assessments, safe systems of work, standard operating procedures, and method statements.
- Support continuous improvement activities relating to quality performance, process control, safety culture, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with data collection, trend analysis, and reporting for quality, health, and safety performance indicators.
- Work with production, engineering, maintenance, procurement, and warehouse teams to promote safe, right-first-time working practices.
- Support training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns on quality, health, and safety topics.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and evidence for audits, inspections, and management reviews.
- Develop a working understanding of applicable legislation, customer requirements, company standards, and recognized management system principles.

Training and Development
Full training will be provided. The successful candidate will be supported through a structured development plan that may include site induction, quality management system training, health and safety awareness, audit techniques, problem-solving methods, risk assessment, incident investigation, and relevant professional or vocational qualifications. The role will involve learning from experienced colleagues, shadowing key activities, and gradually taking ownership of defined responsibilities as competence develops.

The intention of this graduate role is to develop the individual into a capable Quality, Health and Safety Engineer. Over time, the post-holder will be expected to take increasing responsibility for audits, investigations, improvement projects, compliance activities, and day-to-day support to operational teams.
Required Experience
- Graduate or soon-to-graduate in engineering, manufacturing, science, environmental science, health and safety, quality management, or a related discipline.
- Strong interest in developing a career in Quality, Health and Safety within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Confident communicator who can work with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Practical, positive, and proactive approach to learning and improvement.
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage tasks, records, and follow-up actions.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications; willingness to learn business systems and reporting tools.
- No previous Quality, Health and Safety experience is essential, as training will be provided.
