About The Position
We are currently hiring for multiple Heavy Equipment Operator positions including full-time, winter seasonal, and weekend-only roles to support our operations during the winter months. Reporting to the Operations Manager and assigned Lead Hand, the Heavy Equipment Operator operates and maintains Heavy Equipment and performs all related Public Works duties for the maintenance, construction, and operation of Municipally owned and operated infrastructure and facilities.
Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the roads department, including working early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Primary Responsibilities
- Carries out work assignments, using a variety of heavy equipment and other vehicles, power and hand tools, including physically demanding and repetitive manual labour as directed by the Lead Hand or Roads Supervisor, including but not limited to Snow Plow Truck, Sidewalk Plow, Motor Grader, Backhoe, Dump Truck and Floating Heavy Equipment.
- Responsible for snow and ice removal on public roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots, often in the early morning hours, for long consecutive hours, and during unfavourable road and weather conditions.
- Assists with construction projects and paving/ resurfacing preparation.
- Repairs and installs road and street signs.
- Repairs and installs culverts.
- Operates chain saws, mowers, wood chipper and other equipment to cut trees, clear brush and cut grass in a variety of locations, including but not limited to public access roadways.
- Performs grave opening and closing at the Cemetery with a backhoe and hand tools.
- Responds to Emergency call-outs at any time of day or night (e.g. road closures, downed trees, flooding events, assisting Emergency Responders).
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Required
- Applicant must be able to report to the Walkerton, Greenock or Brant Shop within 30 minutes of being called.
- Holds a Valid Ontario Drivers Class AZ or DZ License with a clean drivers abstract.
- Minimum grade 12 Education or equivalent education.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Knowledge of the maintenance and operation of heavy equipment.
- Experience in operating snow plow, grader and back hoe an asset.
- Ability to drive in difficult driving conditions for long periods of time.

What We Offer You
- Full-Time Employees - 42 hours per week, potential for overtime, comprehensive health benefits package, enrolment in OMERS pension plan.
- Seasonal Employees – Contract from November 16, 2026 to April 23, 2027, 24 - 32 hours per week, potential for additional hours and overtime, ability to enroll in OMERS pension plan.
- Weekend Employees – Starting November 16, 2026 to April 23, 2027, up to 16 hours per weekend, ability to enroll in OMERS pension plan.
- Rate of pay between $29.51 - $34.53 depending on qualifications and experience.

Brockton Child Care Centre
Brockton Child Care Centre is looking for two Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) or Non-RECE to join our vibrant, relationship-rich, play-inspired learning community. With toddler, preschool, and school-age programs, your pedagogical dedication to emergent curriculum philosophies will shine as you help shape the culture, environment, and heart of this centre. Our centre operates from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., offering a range of shifts to support work–life balance.
Your Role
- Teaches gross motor skills, dramatic play, use of senses and science.
- Supervises children in a variety of settings such as outdoors, in the classroom and in the sleep room.
- Encourages children to participate, play cooperatively, problem solve, share and learn about safety.
- Integrates separate individual programs for special needs children in with the regular program.
- Assists with planning and organizing special events, field trips and parties.
- Assists children with hygiene activities.
- Responds to telephone enquiries, giving out information and taking messages.
Required Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills
- Early Childhood Education Diploma, or Child and Youth Studies or Equivalency is considered an asset.
- Registered member of the College of ECE is considered an asset but is not a requirement.
- Experience in the Child Care field is considered an asset.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to follow direction and work independently.
- Valid First aid/CPR.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.

Recreation Leaders
The Municipality of Brockton is looking for Recreation Leaders to assist in the planning, and delivery of our fall and winter youth programming. Successful candidates will lead a stimulating and fast-paced programs providing direct supervision of program participants.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepares and delivers safe and inclusive PD Day programming for children ranging in age from 4 years and up.
- Supporting possible drop-in programs for youth and assisting with special events as requested.
- Completes safe arrival, attendance and coordination of off site excursions, maintains safety supervision of participants at all times.
- Actively leads and participates in activities.
- Maintains records, reports and a clean and safe program site.
- Ensures professional and appropriate communication with participants, parents/guardians and members of the general public.
- Ensures program materials and supplies are prepared in advanced, and program equipment is in safe working order. Maintain inventory, inform Recreation Programming Supervisor of supplies needed.
- Responds to emergency and behavioural occurrences following prescribed policy and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with the Ontario Health and Regulations and other relevant legislations, corporate and departmental policies
