We are looking to recruit advisors with specialisms in quality and inclusion and/or training and workforce development
The Role
The Early Education Advisor (Quality & Inclusion) will guide and support current and prospective early years and childcare providers, helping them to meet statutory requirements, develop their workforce and improve quality and inclusivity of provision. Responsible for supporting a caseload of early years & childcare settings & childminders; providing advice and guidance to help improve practice and support improved outcomes for children.
The Early Education Advisor (Workforce development) will support quality improvement by developing the early years and childcare workforce, through a range of training, events and professional development activities.
The roles are integral to fulfilling the council’s statutory duties around ensuring high quality early education and childcare services for the children and families in Leicester. You will be working with a range of partners, schools and early years providers, as well as being part of a dedicated and passionate team, who want to make a difference to children’s outcomes.
We have 5.5 full time equivalent fixed term positions to recruit to over the 2 specialist areas. The posts will work flexibly Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week/or in job share arrangements. We have Full time and part time opportunities available. There is a blend of working out in the community as well as being home and office based. You’ll be required to work out in the field, across Leicester with early years providers and schools, as well as attend face to face; regular team meetings, events, one to one supervision time and project or caseload related meetings.

Working as part of a team of advisors, you will support quality improvement and workforce development across the early years and childcare sector in Leicester city.

Quality and inclusion role
Providers need to be supported by the local authority through their registration journey to first full Ofsted inspection, which includes providing accurate and clear information to ensure they meet the statutory framework of the EYFS as well as assist them in preparing for registering with Ofsted. Targeted support is given to settings and childminders with less than expected standard Ofsted judgements, to help them respond to their Ofsted actions, evaluate their practice, and support them to make improvements to the quality and inclusivity of their provision.
Day to day, you’ll conduct visits, provide telephone support and sign-post providers to a range of tools and resources to aid them in embedding high quality inclusive practice and improve outcomes for children.
Training and Workforce development role
You will liaise with quality advisors in the field and gather feedback from key stakeholders to assess development needs across the workforce and within provision. You will develop, plan and deliver training in response to need, as well as coordinate and facilitate a range of professional development opportunities for the early years’ and childcare workforce, including networks, forums, events, projects and peer support. You will be involved in the development and promotion of tools and resources to aid the workforce to improve their knowledge and practice.
What You’ll Need
- Significant experience of working in the early years and childcare sector, supporting, and developing early years practitioners and improving quality of provision.
- Experience of developing and delivering workforce development opportunities; training, events, tools and resources.
- Have in depth knowledge and understanding of early years and childcare frameworks, early education curriculum and pedagogy and safeguarding practice.
- Excellent communication skills, used to develop & maintain relationships with stakeholders and work collaboratively with other services and partners to ensure service needs are met.
- Proficient IT skills and strong writing skills.
