Contract Type: Fixed Term post until 31/03/2028 due to grant funding

We are currently looking for a qualified teacher with early years expertise to join our highly skilled Early Years Childcare Team, as an Early Years Advisor to complement the work of the existing Early Years Advisors.

The main duties of the post

Working under the supervision of the Childcare Lead, within the multi-agency Early Years Childcare Team, you will carry out a range of duties to lead and support the continued development of the high-quality childcare settings within Neath Port Talbot.

  • To support the development of a broad and balanced range of activities and experiences appropriate to the needs of two-year-olds in Welsh Government funded childcare settings.
  • To ensure that childcare settings are quality assured to meet the appropriate quality childcare guidance as outlined by the Welsh Government.
  • To establish effective working relationships with childcare settings and ensure positive transition to education providers.
  • To work closely with multi-agencies and promote strategies to engage parents to participate in Welsh Government Funded Childcare, Flying Start and other Early Years support services.

You will have experience of

  • Working in a multi-agency way with a wide range of professionals
  • Early Years Curriculum setting experience

Ideally you will have

  • Qualified teacher status plus relevant experience of working with children, families, and early years settings is essential.
  • The knowledge and expertise to promote continuous quality improvement and through championing the world-class nature of early education and care practices.
  • An understanding of the care and educational needs of children from age two to three years, focusing on the skill development of childcare settings who support these children.
  • Recent and substantial experience and knowledge of Foundation Learning and Curriculum for Wales in an early years context.
