Are you a passionate Early Years teacher with a strong commitment to inclusion and supporting young children with SEND?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Early Years Inclusion Teacher to join our specialist Early Years Language Centre provision.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with young children who have additional needs, with a particular focus on supporting communication, language, learning and inclusion. You will work as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team to provide high-quality Early Years teaching and targeted support that enables children to develop, participate and thrive.
The Language Centre brings together Early Years education and specialist support. The existing model includes Early Years Inclusion Teachers working alongside Speech and Language Therapists, Early Years Inclusion Assistants and families, as well as working with the education settings children attend.
About The Role
As an Early Years Inclusion Teacher, you will use your Early Years and SEND expertise to:
- plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive learning experiences which respond to children’s individual developmental and communication needs;
- observe and assess children and use this information to inform appropriate teaching strategies, interventions and programmes;
- work closely with Speech and Language Therapy colleagues and other professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary approach;
- work collaboratively with parents and carers, recognising them as essential partners in their child’s learning and development;
- support Early Years practitioners and settings to develop their confidence, knowledge and inclusive practice;
- provide practical advice, strategies and appropriate resources which can be embedded within children’s everyday learning environments;
- contribute to effective planning, assessment, review and transition for children receiving support;
- promote ambitious but appropriate outcomes for children with SEND; and
- contribute to the wider development of high-quality inclusive Early Years practice across Sheffield.

These elements reflect the established Early Years Inclusion Teacher responsibilities, including multi-disciplinary working, collaboration with families and settings, advising on strategies and resources, supporting SEND development planning and contributing to early intervention.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is passionate about Early Years education and believes strongly in the difference that excellent early identification and intervention can make.
You will need to be a qualified teacher with QTS, with significant experience of Early Years teaching and working with young children with SEND. The existing person specification identifies knowledge of child development, the EYFS, Early Years SEND and inclusion, alongside experience of observation, assessment, intervention, collaborative work with families and multi-disciplinary working.
You should be an excellent communicator who enjoys working collaboratively and can build positive relationships with children, families, settings and professionals.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is child-centred, reflective, creative and ambitious for children, and who can adapt their teaching to enable every child to participate, communicate, learn and develop.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
