Early Years Lead – Permanent (Split Shift)

The Role

  • Location: Grange Primary School (including nearby sites)
  • Hours:
    • Flexible split shifts (15 hrs core, plus 25-30hrs during half-term for holiday camps)
  • Pay: £13.50 per hour
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Perks:

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for children aged 0-5.
  • Plan, lead, and deliver structured, age-appropriate activities including:
    • Storytelling
    • Creative arts & crafts
    • Sensory play
    • Group games
    • Outdoor adventures
  • Support children’s development and wellbeing through engaging, playful experiences.
  • Maintain exemplary safeguarding standards—follow all Health & Safety policies strictly.
  • Provide healthy snacks, assist with toileting/hygiene routines, and ensure every child feels safe, cared for, and included.
  • Set up and maintain play spaces, adapting them for different activities and learning needs.
  • Keep accurate records (incident reports, observations, registers, etc.).
  • Build trusting relationships with parents, schools, and colleagues.
  • Promote early years best practice to nurture a love of learning through play.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Qualification in Early Years – Essential.
  • Ability to lead with confidence, creativity, and boundless energy.
  • Team player committed to fostering joyful, safe, and inclusive learning.

Safeguarding & Compliance

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You must comply with:

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education policies.
  • Provide two written references—one from your most recent employer and one from a childcare setting (if applicable).
  • A full Enhanced DBS Check will be required prior to starting.
