I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who Are We Looking For?
We’re looking for someone who is more than an experienced nursery manager.
You’ll be a natural leader who can walk into a setting, understand what is happening, identify what needs to change, and most importantly, inspire people to make that change.
You’ll need:
- Strong operational experience within early years, ideally with experience overseeing multiple settings.
- Ofsted confidence: you understand what good looks like and know how to prepare teams, managers, and environments for inspection.
- Leadership ability: you can challenge, coach, motivate, and hold Managers accountable while building strong professional relationships.
- Commercial awareness: you understand that great childcare and a successful nursery operation go hand in hand.
- Resilience: because early years can be unpredictable, and we need someone who stays calm when things get busy.
- Organisation and prioritisation: you’ll be managing multiple settings, competing priorities, and lots of moving parts.
- And most importantly, you’ll genuinely care about children, families, and the people who deliver their care every day.
