Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Early Years Practitioner role based in Glasgow. The Early Years Practitioner will plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging, age-appropriate activities that support children’s learning and development in line with early years frameworks. The role includes observing and recording children’s progress, maintaining accurate documentation, and contributing to individualized learning plans. The practitioner will promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment, following safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times. Day-to-day responsibilities also include building positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues, supporting daily routines such as meals and outdoor play, and actively contributing to team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

- Relevant early years education qualification (e.g., SVQ, HNC, or equivalent) and up-to-date knowledge of early years frameworks and best practice.
- Experience planning and delivering structured learning and play activities that support holistic child development.
- Strong observation, record-keeping, and assessment skills to track progress and inform next steps in learning.
- Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and maintaining a safe, secure, and inclusive environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with children, families, and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to work proactively in a busy nursery setting, manage time effectively, and adapt to children’s changing needs.
- Positive, child-centered attitude, with patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting children’s emotional and social development.
- Previous experience in an early years or childcare setting; pediatric first aid training and continued professional development are beneficial.
