Nursery – Bright Horizons Beaufort Day Nursery

Salary – £18,395 per annum (dependent on qualification/s and experience)
Hours - Mon-Fri | 9am-2pm | Permanent
Location – NW9, Colindale, London

We’re looking for an Early Years SEN Assistant to join our Beaufort Park nursery and support our children with additional needs within our Pre-School Room!

Our Bright Horizons Beaufort Park Day Nursery and Preschool is situated in Colindale with great transport links. We're just a 10 minute walk from Mill Hill Station, Colindale and Hendon Underground Station and under a mile from Colindale town centre. The nursery caters for up to 102 children aged 3 months to five years and benefits from a beautiful modern space with bright, airy rooms filled with cosy reading corners, imagination stations and sensory areas along with a large garden area with play equipment.

The Role

  • SEN Documentation & Support Plans: Maintain and update SEN documentation, with a strong understanding of support plans and the processes involved in finalising EHCPs to the required standard.
  • SEN Meetings: Attend and contribute to SEN meetings, working collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals to ensure each child’s needs are fully supported.
  • Additional Ratio Support: Provide extra staffing support in rooms where additional adult presence is required to meet the needs of children with SEN.
  • Resources & Visuals: Create, update, and replenish SEN resources and visual aids, ensuring they are accessible, relevant, and consistently up to date.
  • Cross-Room Support: Although the main focus is on children aged 3–5, support may be required across all age groups depending on individual needs.
  • Lunch Cover: Assist with lunch cover across the nursery when needed, supporting children of all ages.

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience working with SEN children – Nursery Bank Staff, Nursery Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Nursery Practitioner, Early Years Educator, Nanny, Childminder or similar
  • Passion for making learning fun and engaging for each child
  • Ability to develop trust and strong working partnerships with both colleagues and parents
  • Ability to use a variety of communication techniques with both children and adults
