Early Years Trainer (Apprenticeships)

Location: Field Based / Hybrid
Responsible to: Head of Training and Audits / Training & Professional Development Manager
Salary: £40,289

Job Purpose

The Early Years Trainer is responsible for the delivery, assessment, and support of high-quality apprenticeship training programmes across the organisation. This includes Level 2 and Level 3 Early Years and Leadership apprenticeships, ensuring learners develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to deliver outstanding practice in line with the EYFS, Welsh Minimum Standards, and inspection frameworks.

The role focuses on coaching, mentoring, and assessing apprentices, ensuring learning is embedded into practice, and supporting timely achievement, progression, and workforce development.

This role contributes directly to improving the quality of provision, staff competence, and outcomes for children through effective training and professional development delivery, aligned to organisational priorities.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Apprenticeship Delivery & Assessment

  • Deliver high-quality apprenticeship training (Level 2–3) through blended learning approaches (face-to-face, virtual, and workplace coaching).
  • Assess learners against apprenticeship standards using a range of methods (observations, professional discussions, portfolio reviews).
  • Support apprentices to build evidence for End Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Ensure learners understand and meet the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required within their standard.
  • Track learner progress and ensure timely achievement and high success rates.

Coaching, Mentoring & Learner Support

  • Provide regular 1:1 coaching and mentoring to apprentices to support development and confidence.
  • Create and review Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) tailored to learner needs.
  • Support learners who require additional help, including those with SEND/ALN or additional learning needs.
  • Embed reflective practice and critical thinking in all learning.
  • Motivate and inspire learners to achieve their full potential.

Embedding Learning into Practice

  • Support learners to apply training directly into their nursery practice.
  • Coach apprentices on:
    • Child development and learning
    • Safeguarding and welfare
    • Behaviour management
    • Inclusive practice (SEND/ALN, EAL)
    • Curriculum implementation (including Future Ready Curriculum / Montessori where applicable)
  • Work with nursery managers to ensure learning is transferred effectively into the setting.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
