SatSense Business Development Executive

SatSense is an innovative remote sensing company with unique capabilities and big ambitions. Our satellite radar-derived datasets hold valuable information for infrastructure, transport, property, insurance, utilities, construction, energy and mining applications. We help asset managers and engineers assess and manage risk imposed by historic or ongoing ground and structural movements or changes.

With established long-term customers and consistent year-on-year growth, we are looking for a Business Development Executive to grow with the company. We are led by our technology and a desire to create the best possible insight for our customers. We are an inclusive and flexible team that loves collaborating internally and externally, motivated by a belief that the supportive environment we provide is reflected in the quality of what we deliver.

The role

You'll turn satellite radar data into reliable ground or structure related information for clients, and build the methods and tools that improve our products.

Most of your time will be spent delivering client projects, and some on R&D. The balance will shift with business need, so you'll need to move between deadline-driven delivery work and development work.

Our office is in Leeds, UK where you will be expected to attend at least once per week as part of a hybrid working pattern.

Key responsibilities

  • Process InSAR from a range of SAR missions, including data selection, parameter setting and quality control.
  • Evaluate InSAR results, considering whether they meet client needs and are of suitable quality, iterating processing if required.
  • Interpret deformation results in their geological and engineering context: subsidence, slope stability, infrastructure, mining and reservoirs.
  • Produce clear technical reports, GIS outputs and visualisations that clients can act on.
  • Take the role of technical expert in client meetings, explaining uncertainty and limitations in plain language.
  • Contribute to fast-paced product development, often to evolving requirements shaped with clients.
  • Prototype and test new methods.
  • Publish and present at conferences such as FRINGE where it fits company priorities.
  • Adapt and develop tools and our processing chain to meet requirements of clients, projects or product development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you'll bring

Essential

  • MSc or PhD in geophysics, remote sensing, geomatics, Earth sciences, geotechnical engineering or a related field or equivalent professional field.
  • Extensive hands-on InSAR experience, can include PhD work.
  • Strong coding background: clean, maintainable code for SAR/InSAR processing and analysis. Comfortable with Git, code review and testing, and with turning research prototypes into tools others can use. Most of our software is written and developed in Python, so familiarity with Python is a big advantage.
  • A proven ability to develop or adapt InSAR methods, not just run existing software, e.g. in phase unwrapping, atmospheric correction, time-series analysis or uncertainty estimation.
  • Confident on the Linux command line, with GIS skills (QGIS/ArcGIS) and experience of spatial data.
  • A track record of delivering technical work to deadlines, maintaining accurate documentation and a high degree of organisation.
  • Able to write clear client-ready reports and present technical results confidently in English.

Desirable

  • Experience with any of SNAP, ISCE, GAMMA, StaMPS, MintPy or proprietary processing chains.
  • An application background in civil engineering, mining, oil & gas or natural hazards.
  • Cloud or HPC processing at scale (AWS, Docker, job orchestration).
  • Validating InSAR against GNSS, levelling or other in-situ measurements.
  • Experience working with other data sets such as multi / hyperspectral data and DEMs for applications such as change detection, soil moisture and vegetation mapping.
  • Peer-reviewed publications.

Who will thrive here

  • Academically excellent, but able to apply intellect to solve the right problems accurately and quickly, and communicate clearly.

  • Able to switch between delivery and research effectively.

Why work here

  • We have a supportive and flexible culture, creating a friendly and fun place to work.
  • You will be surrounded by exceptionally talented people who will want you to succeed.
  • A base salary between £35k and £45k per annum, with a performance-related annual bonus and an opportunity to earn share options in SatSense.

How to apply

Send your CV and a short cover letter to careers@satsense.com. If you have projects on GitHub or elsewhere that show your technical work that you’re able to share, please include a link.

Shortlisted candidates will complete a small take-home technical task which will be presented and discussed as part of interviews with the team. The task is likely to take no more than two hours.

In the case of high numbers of applications we may not be able to respond to all applicants. The closing date is 18/12/2026, so if you haven’t heard from us by then, unfortunately you haven’t been shortlisted on this occasion.
