Band 6 Registered Nurse - Sussex Family Eating Disorder Service

We are seeking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable, and dynamic registered clinician to join our Specialist Family Eating Disorder Service (SFEDS) on a full-time, permanent contract.

SFEDS works with young people aged 10-18 with an eating disorder, and their families, supporting recovery through evidenced-based interventions such as the Maudsley Family Therapy Models and E-CBT. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality evidenced-based treatment in accordance with NICE Guidelines and National Access and Waiting Times Standards.

You will be joining a service of highly skilled and experienced Family and Systemic Psychotherapists, Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychology and Assistant Psychologists, Nurses, Dietitian, Support Workers, and Occupational Therapists.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work as a member of the clinic service/team, providing high-quality, specialist treatment to clients, their families, or carers.
  • Support nursing practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation, and training.
  • Participate in systematic clinical governance and offer clinical supervision to junior nursing colleagues and student nurses.
  • Undertake audits, contribute to, and lead on, quality improvement, service development, and research.

Key Duties:

  • Provide a qualified, high-quality specialist nursing service to individuals, carers, families, and groups, within and across teams, in line with best evidence-based practice and Trust care pathways.
  • Hold and manage a clinical caseload and exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the planning and prioritizing of own workload and the assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients, within the bounds of the service operational policy.
  • Make clinical management decisions in complex clinical issues.
  • Clinically supervise junior nursing colleagues, nursing students, and other staff as appropriate.
  • Professionally supervise and, when appropriate, manage junior nursing colleagues, nursing students, and other staff as appropriate.
  • Complete assessments of those referred to the service and outcome this in a timely manner in line with Code of Conduct.
  • Provide consultation, mentorship, supervision, and advice about clinical nursing issues to other members of the team/service and other professionals working with service users across a range of agencies/settings as appropriate.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systemic governance of nursing practice within the team.
