EBOB Market Maker | Proprietary Energy Trading | London
I’m partnering with an established proprietary energy trading firm as they build out a new trading presence in London.
Following continued growth across global energy derivatives, the firm is looking to hire an EBOB Market Maker to play a key role in developing its European gasoline capability.
This is not a traditional directional or fundamentally driven trading position. The team is specifically looking for someone with genuine market-making experience within EBOB / European gasoline derivatives, who understands the brokered market and can bring established relationships and market knowledge to the platform.
You’ll be joining a highly experienced team of proprietary traders and market makers who are already successful across other energy products. The firm has significant capital, established trading infrastructure and strong existing broker relationships, but is looking for someone who can bring specific expertise and additional value within EBOB.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

There is significant scope to help shape the firm's London operation as it develops.
What they're looking for:
- Direct experience market making EBOB / European gasoline derivatives
- Strong relationships with brokers and participants across the European gasoline market
- Experience pricing markets, providing liquidity and managing the associated trading risk
- A strong understanding of gasoline derivatives, with broader exposure across light ends, naphtha, cracks and related products beneficial
- Comfortable operating within a proprietary trading environment and taking responsibility for risk
- Experience with Python, quantitative models, scripts or technology-driven trading tools would be highly advantageous
- Open on seniority. This could suit an established market maker or an ambitious trader who has developed a strong foundation within an existing market-making desk and is ready for greater ownership
