Role
As an EC&I Engineer, for our client, working in the nuclear sector, you’ll provide specialist technical input across complex control systems and take responsibility for a key segment of a major engineering project. This hybrid position is based in Renfrew and combines collaborative office days with remote flexibility, ideal for experienced engineers looking to contribute to vital engineering infrastructure.
Salary
£50–£63 per hour, Inside IR35
Location and Working Pattern
Hybrid working pattern with office attendance on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Remote working available on Monday and Friday.
Client Overview
Our client delivers specialist engineering projects within the nuclear sector, supporting safety‑critical infrastructure through innovation and technical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engineering design packages for complex machinery from construction to commissioning.
- Prepare EC&I deliverables, including Control System Specifications, Cause and Effect Charts, Datasheets and Technical Requisitions for long‑lead items.
- Review and check EC&I design documentation such as Cable Block Diagrams, Routing Diagrams, Schedules and Termination Drawings.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies from contract proposals by raising technical queries with the project or client.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing.
- Contribute EC&I input to multi‑discipline design reviews and close out actions.
- Undertake LV Electrical Power Design tasks.
- Support the EC&I Lead Engineer in related duties as required.

Must-have Requirements
- Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be British‑born UK citizens and able to complete the necessary security clearance process. This typically takes around six weeks, unless SC clearance is already in place.
- BSc or BEng in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Several years experience in EC&I design, construction and commissioning.
- Proven experience with control system upgrade projects including PLC, SCADA, Motion Control and Servo applications.
- Experience commissioning Motor Control Centres and Control System Cabinets.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Effective problem solver with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- On‑site construction and commissioning experience.

Nice-to-have Skills
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
- TUV SIS Functional Safety qualification.
- Experience with Motion Control or Servo applications.
