Hands-on electrical, control and instrumentation support across an established site.

Are you a time-served electrician with instrumentation experience, looking for a role where you're on the tools, keeping real plant running, and no two days look the same?

We're recruiting an EC&I Technician to join our Engineering team in East Kilbride. This role is centred on supporting and maintaining our existing electrical infrastructure — 415V motors, control panels, distribution and instrumentation — and on making sure that infrastructure is properly documented, drawn and understood. You'll also play an important part when new equipment arrives on site: supporting commissioning, coordinating the contractors carrying out the work, and ensuring what gets installed is tested, signed off and accurately recorded.

The Role

Day to day, you could be:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on existing electrical, control and instrumentation systems
  • Working hands-on with 415V three-phase equipment, including motors, starters, isolators, distribution boards and control panels
  • Fault finding and diagnosing issues across electrical systems, instrumentation, PLCs and HMIs
  • Producing and updating electrical drawings, schematics and P&IDs in AutoCAD, including accurate as-built records for installed infrastructure
  • Maintaining asset records, panel schedules, test records and maintenance documentation
  • Supporting the commissioning of new installations — testing, witnessing, checking work against specification and making sure the documentation reflects what has actually been installed
  • Managing and coordinating contractors on site: inductions, permits to work, isolations, quality checks and sign-off
  • Carrying out small installation and modification works, including wiring, terminations and panel work
  • Handling general facility electrical tasks such as lighting, sockets and minor repairs
  • Ensuring all work meets health and safety standards and relevant industry regulations

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This is a support and maintenance role rather than a design position — you'll be the person who knows the installed infrastructure inside out, keeps it running, and holds contractors to the right standard.

What We're Looking For

Someone who takes pride in their work, communicates clearly, and works well as part of a team. You'll need the attention to detail to keep drawings and records accurate and up to date, the confidence to hold contractors to standard, and you'll be equally comfortable with a set of tools in your hand.

What You'll Need

  • A recognised Electrical/Instrumentation apprenticeship
  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification
  • Proven hands-on experience working on 415V equipment, including motors and control panels
  • Strong electrical and instrumentation maintenance and fault-finding experience on established plant or facilities
  • AutoCAD skills, with the ability to produce and maintain accurate electrical drawings and P&IDs for installed infrastructure
  • A methodical approach to documentation and record keeping
  • Confidence working alongside and coordinating contractors, including permits to work and safe isolation
  • Good PC literacy and confidence with engineering software
  • Experience working within an engineering team

Where We Can Offer In Training

If you have solid electrical and instrumentation skills but less exposure to control systems, we'd still like to hear from you. For the right candidate we can provide training in:

  • PLC fault finding and diagnostics (Siemens focus)
  • HMI and industrial control systems
  • Industrial communication protocols
  • CompEx 1–4 certification
  • The hands-on electrical experience and documentation discipline are essential; the control systems knowledge can be built.
