Role Description
The Eco Guide/Educator is a part-time, on-site role based in Lewisham. The role involves planning and delivering engaging environmental education sessions, workshops, and guided eco activities for diverse community groups, including children, young people, and adults. Day-to-day tasks include:

- Developing accessible learning materials
- Leading outdoor nature-based activities
- Promoting sustainable practices such as recycling, conservation, and responsible resource use
- Collaborating with community partners

- Supporting the design of new eco initiatives aligned with DCWUK’s educational and wellbeing goals

The role requires:
- Active participation in local events
- Maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Contributing to reporting and documentation of program outcomes
Qualifications
- Strong skills in environmental education, including knowledge of sustainability, conservation, and basic ecology, and the ability to explain concepts in an accessible way.
- Experience designing and delivering workshops, tours, or educational sessions for diverse age groups in community, school, or outdoor settings.
- Ability to create clear, engaging learning materials and activities, including hands-on, arts-based, or digital-inclusive resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build trust, encourage participation, and support learners with different needs and backgrounds.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and wellbeing, with an understanding of working respectfully with vulnerable or marginalized communities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, including planning sessions, coordinating schedules, and keeping accurate records.
- Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions and leading small groups safely in local parks or community spaces.
- Relevant experience or training in environmental studies, community education, youth work, or a related field; a formal qualification in these areas is advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small not-for-profit team and to contribute ideas for new eco initiatives and partnerships in Lewisham.
