Ecologist : Milton Keynes
A growing environmental consultancy is opening a brand new office near Milton Keynes and they're looking for an Ecologist to join the team. This is an opportunity to become one of the founding members of a new team, helping shape the culture, influence projects and build something from the ground up. Working across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, infrastructure and conservation projects, the successful candidate will have the freedom to manage their own workload while collaborating with experienced colleagues across the wider business. From protected species surveys and habitat assessments to report writing and client liaison, no two weeks will look the same.
This role would suit someone who enjoys balancing fieldwork with technical expertise, values high-quality ecological outcomes and wants to be part of a company where ideas are listened to rather than lost in layers of management.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
