About Bowland

Established in 2005, Bowland Ecology is a UK-wide professional ecological practice, employing a large team of highly qualified professional ecologists with a range of specialisms. The company has a wealth of experience of major projects across a wide range of sectors. We have long-standing relationships with a range of clients and are retained on several private and public sector frameworks. We have a proven track record of successfully resolving complex ecological issues on a wide range of projects.

We deliver high-quality work and focus on developing our staff and expertise through training, collaboration, research, and innovation. We are proud of our CIEEM Registered Practice Status and our ecologists are bound by the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management’s (CIEEM) code of professional conduct.

The Role

Due to continued growth, we’re looking for a passionate, skilled consultant ecologists to help shape the future of our work.

  • Managing own projects (including fee proposals and client liaison) and assist with the management of other projects as required
  • Planning, coordinating, and undertaking habitat and protected species surveys
  • Producing technical reports
  • Designing ecological mitigation schemes
  • Supervising junior staff
  • Contributing business development
  • Developing your skills and career

Key Requirements

  • A relevant degree
  • CIEEM membership (or equivalent)
  • Have a minimum of 3 years in practice experience
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management skills
  • A proactive, hands-on approach
  • Ability to work independently
  • Clear, concise report writing
  • Full UK driving license
  • Genuine enthusiasm for wildlife

Also Welcomed

  • Level 3 FISC or above
  • Experience preparing quotes, bids, and project management documentation
