Part Time, with room to grow
London – Westbourne Studios, W10 5JJ | 2–3 days a week
About us
We’re an entrepreneurial Aussie family, originally from Melbourne, with an eclectic group of businesses across Australia, the US and now the UK – everything from caravans and arborist machinery to lab and medical products and, in my corner of the family business, quite a lot of laundry detergent.
We opened our London office at Westbourne Studios in January 2026 as we started properly building out the UK and European side of the businesses. It’s still a relatively new operation, which means there’s plenty being built, streamlined and improved.
You’ll work directly with me, Dakota, across five companies I run.
Three are Dacie Clean companies operating across the UK, US and Australia. They’re essentially the same business operating across different regional markets, selling our three brands:
- Daintie Delicates – specialist laundry care for intimate and period-related stains.
- PODBOSS – laundry detergent pods sold online, wholesale and in bulk to laundromats, accommodation providers and other commercial customers.
- Laundry Vending Products (LVP) – commercial laundry vending equipment and supplies, with a more traditional B2B customer base.
The other two companies have relatively low transaction volumes and straightforward bookkeeping.
And before UK + US + Australia sounds terrifying: you are not expected to be the accountant for three countries.
There is already an established finance team around the businesses, including an internal finance manager and external accountant in Australia, a US finance team, our UK accountant and AVASK supporting European VAT.
You’ll be the person with visibility across the whole picture. Because you’re in the books day to day, you’ll know what has been purchased, where stock has moved, what Amazon has paid, what still needs reconciling and what’s coming up next.
Your role is to connect it all: keeping the underlying books accurate, getting the right information to the right people and making sure nothing gets lost between them.
On paper, five Xero files across the UK, US and Australia sounds like a lot.
In reality, much of the bookkeeping is the same ecommerce process repeated across different entities. We use the same core systems – Xero, Amazon, Shopify and A2X – with familiar underlying work: settlements, COGS, inventory, bank reconciliations, supplier bills and month-end.
The entities are also connected. Stock may be purchased through one company and distributed or sold through another, so inventory, COGS and intercompany balances need to reconcile properly at both ends.
Having one person with visibility across those movements is much more valuable to us than having three separate bookkeepers each seeing one part of the picture.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you’ll actually do
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping across five Xero entities.
- Handle bank and credit card reconciliations, supplier bills, invoices and expenses.
- Reconcile Amazon, Shopify and other ecommerce settlements through A2X.
- Maintain accurate COGS, including product cost, freight, duty and landed costs.
- Reconcile inventory, intercompany stock movements, transactions and balances.
- Prepare, review and file UK VAT returns.
- Prepare and reconcile European VAT figures for AVASK.
- Handle multicurrency transactions and FX differences.
- Support B2B invoicing, trade customers and accounts receivable.
- Support the finance side of UK payroll through BrightPay and employee expenses.
- Keep Companies House and routine UK company-secretarial requirements on schedule.
- Support EPR and packaging compliance, keeping the underlying sales, product and packaging data organised for reporting and external compliance providers.
- Complete month-end close and provide a short, plain-English summary of where everything sits.
- Prepare clean books and supporting information for our UK, US and Australian finance teams and accountants.
- Identify anything requiring jurisdiction-specific expertise, get it to the right person and follow it through.
- Build and maintain finance calendars, checklists and processes.
- Spot problems early and improve processes where something is repeatedly going wrong.
For the UK company, month-end reporting also feeds into our Home Office endorsing body reporting, so accuracy and deadlines matter.
The first few months
The books are broadly in order, but the businesses have grown quickly and there’s some consolidation and tidying up to do.
The initial focus will be getting everything properly reconciled and organised, then building consistent month-end routines, compliance calendars, checks and hand-offs.
Once that foundation is in place, the role should settle into a much more predictable monthly rhythm.
What we need
- Xero: You genuinely know your way around it. All five entities are on Xero, so this is the foundation of the role.
- A2X: You’ve actually used it and understand what it’s doing with settlement and COGS data. You should be comfortable reconciling it properly, including where currencies differ.
- Ecommerce accounting: Amazon and Shopify payouts, fees, refunds, reserves and marketplace accounting are familiar territory.
- COGS and inventory: You understand physical products. Landed cost, freight, duty, inventory movements and stock across multiple entities need to make sense to you.
- European VAT: You’ve worked with European VAT before and understand how the underlying Amazon and Shopify transactions feed into the returns. Experience with AVASK is a big plus.

Nice to have
- Experience with multicurrency accounting, import duty/VAT and PVA, BrightPay, Amazon Seller Central, AVASK, EPR/packaging compliance, multi-entity or intercompany accounting, and exposure to US or Australian accounting are all useful bonuses.
- Xero certifications and qualifications such as AAT, ACCA, ACA/ICAEW, CIMA, ICB, IAB or ATT are welcome, but practical ecommerce bookkeeping experience matters more.
You’ll probably thrive here if you
- You like understanding the whole picture rather than simply processing a queue of transactions.
- You’re good at chasing things through. Sending an email is not the same as solving the problem.
- You naturally question something when the numbers don’t make sense.
- You like systems. If something keeps going wrong, your instinct is to improve the process rather than keep fixing the individual transaction.
- You’re self-directed and comfortable working directly with a founder, while also collaborating with accountants and finance teams across different countries.
- And you’re comfortable saying, “I’m not sure about that one – let me check with the right person.” We don’t expect you to know three countries’ tax systems. We do expect you to recognise when specialist input is needed.
Where you’ll work
When I’m in the UK, this is primarily an in-person role at Westbourne Studios, London W10.
There’s a practical reason for that: I’m much easier to get information out of when you can grab me across a desk than when you’re waiting three days for me to reply to a Slack message.
When I’m travelling internationally – usually around three to four months of the year – you can work remotely or continue working from the studio.
Hours
2–3 days per week to start, with flexibility around which days.
Most of the team start around 10am and I tend to work across UK and US hours, so later starts are absolutely fine. If you have school runs or other commitments, we can usually work around them as long as there’s enough overlap to work together.
There’s genuine room for the role to become full-time as the businesses grow.
To apply
Send us your CV/resume and a little about you.
There’s no need for a formal cover letter. I’d much rather know what you’ve worked on, what you’re particularly good at and why the role caught your eye.
If you’ve dealt with the wonderfully glamorous combination of Xero + A2X + Amazon + European VAT before, definitely tell me.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
