Volunteer Opportunity: eCommerce Team

We are looking for volunteers with a passion for books, music, and film to join our eCommerce team. If you enjoy identifying interesting titles, spotting valuable editions, and researching collectable media, this could be the perfect role for you.

About the Role

Our eCommerce department raises vital funds through the sale of donated items online. We receive hundreds of books, vinyl records, CDs, and DVDs every year, ranging from modern releases to rare first editions, collectable records, box sets, and out-of-print titles. Your knowledge and enthusiasm will help us identify items of value and maximise income for St Leonard's Hospice.

When am I needed?

The eCommerce office is located at our Clifton Moor centre and is open Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 4:00pm. We are looking for volunteers on Monday, Tuesday, or Friday.

Typical Shifts:

  • Morning: 9:30am to 12:00pm
  • Afternoon: 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Alternative shift patterns can be accommodated provided they are at least two hours long. Weekly or fortnightly commitments are preferred.

What will I be doing?

  • Sorting and assessing donated books, vinyl records, CDs, and DVDs
  • Identifying collectable, rare, or valuable items
  • Researching titles, editions, artists, authors, and release information
  • Helping determine appropriate pricing for online sale
  • Photographing media listings
  • Writing accurate and engaging descriptions for eBay and other online platforms
  • Advising the eCommerce team on specialist media items
  • Learning more about the online resale market where appropriate

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
