Ecommerce & Retention Manager

Instant Swim | Full-Time | UK

Instant Swim is looking for an experienced, commercially minded Ecommerce & Retention Manager to join our growing team. This is a new role with significant ownership across two key areas of the business: Ecommerce Growth (50%) and Email & SMS (50%).

You'll own how we convert and retain the customers we're already reaching - from improving conversion rate and AOV on our website to taking complete ownership of our email and SMS channels. We're looking for someone highly analytical, commercially driven and obsessed with testing and optimisation. You should be comfortable getting into the data, identifying opportunities and then actually implementing them.

This is a hands-on role. We don't want someone who simply produces strategies and passes them to someone else to execute.

Ecommerce Growth - 50%

You'll take ownership of improving the commercial performance of the Instant Swim website. Responsibilities include:

  • Own and improve website conversion rate (CVR) and average order value (AOV)
  • Develop and manage an ongoing CRO testing roadmap
  • Identify opportunities within our customer journey and turn them into actionable tests
  • Test new offers, promotions and commercial mechanics
  • Develop and test bundles, cross-sells and upsells
  • Test landing pages, product pages and collection pages
  • Improve website merchandising and product discovery
  • Analyse customer behaviour and identify friction points across the website
  • Work within Shopify to implement and manage ecommerce changes
  • Analyse performance by device, market, landing page, product and customer segment
  • Track the commercial impact of tests and initiatives rather than simply measuring activity
  • Work closely with our Creative Lead and paid media team to ensure the journey from ad → landing page → purchase is cohesive
  • Continually look for ways to generate more revenue from our existing website traffic

Email & SMS - 50%

You will have complete ownership of Instant Swim's email and SMS channels. We're looking for someone who is confident owning both strategy and day-to-day execution of our email & SMS channels. Responsibilities include:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

  • Own our email and SMS strategy
  • Plan and manage the monthly campaign calendar
  • Build, schedule, QA and send email and SMS campaigns
  • Own Klaviyo and the overall health of the account
  • Build new automated flows and continually optimise existing flows
  • Create customer segments and develop more personalised lifecycle marketing
  • Plan and execute A/B tests across campaigns and flows
  • Develop strategies to improve repeat purchase rate and customer lifetime value
  • Monitor deliverability and list health
  • Analyse campaign and flow performance and turn insights into action
  • Own email/SMS revenue targets and report on performance
  • Brief email creative and copy, working with our Creative Lead and external design support where required
  • Identify opportunities across the full customer lifecycle, from welcome and first purchase through to retention and win-back

You do not need to be a specialist graphic designer. We care much more about your commercial, strategic and analytical ability. However, you should have a strong understanding of ecommerce creative and be able to confidently brief, build and execute high-performing campaigns.

Who We're Looking For

You'll probably be someone who:

  • Has strong experience working within ecommerce, ideally for a DTC consumer brand
  • Has hands-on experience with Shopify and Klaviyo
  • Has directly managed email marketing rather than solely overseeing an agency
  • Understands CRO and has experience running website tests
  • Is highly analytical and comfortable working with ecommerce data
  • Understands the relationship between CVR, AOV, CAC, retention and LTV
  • Is commercially minded and naturally looks for opportunities to increase revenue
  • Can turn data into clear hypotheses and tests
  • Is comfortable executing ideas yourself rather than relying on a large team
  • Understands email segmentation, automation, deliverability and lifecycle marketing
  • Is organised enough to manage an ongoing campaign calendar alongside a CRO/testing roadmap
  • Has a strong eye for ecommerce and understands what good creative looks like, even if you're not a designer yourself
  • Experience with SMS marketing and additional CRO/analytics platforms would be beneficial.

What Success Looks Like

This isn't a role where success is measured by how many emails were sent or how many tests were launched. We'll be looking at the commercial impact you're having across metrics including:

  • Conversion rate
  • Average order value
  • Revenue per website session
  • Email & SMS revenue
  • Campaign and flow performance
  • Repeat purchase rate
  • Customer lifetime value
  • Performance of CRO tests and commercial initiatives

Ultimately, your role is to help us generate more value from every person who visits Instant Swim and every customer who buys from us.

About Instant Swim

Instant Swim is a fast-growing UK swimwear brand creating performance swimwear that combines functionality with considered design. Founded by a former competitive swimmer, we've built a global community of swimmers across the UK, US, Australia and beyond. We're at an exciting stage of growth and building out our internal team as we scale. This role will have genuine ownership and the opportunity to build our ecommerce and retention strategy rather than stepping into a rigid existing structure. You'll work closely with the Founder/CEO, Creative Lead and our wider marketing team, with plenty of scope for the role to develop as Instant Swim grows.

To Apply

Please send us your CV alongside a short introduction explaining your relevant ecommerce and retention experience. We'd particularly love to see specific examples of things you've personally implemented - whether that's a CRO test that improved conversion, an initiative that increased AOV, a Klaviyo flow you built, or an email/SMS strategy that materially improved retention or revenue.
