Are you organised, proactive and passionate about supporting businesses? North East Derbyshire District Council is looking for an Economic Development & Programmes Support Officer to support our Business Support and Economic Growth activities.

You will be working within the Economic Development and Programmes Team whose remit includes responsibility for the effective delivery of key economic and sustainability programmes; Economic Growth, Healthy Communities, Climate Change & Sustainability and Social & Economic Inclusion. Key areas of focus for the team includes business support, delivery of key regeneration schemes, town centre development, promotion of visitor economy, health, sustainability and climate change, policy and strategy development and programme management of external funding.

No two days are the same. One day you might be organising a business networking event, the next researching funding opportunities, supporting a grant-funded project or producing information for local businesses. Working alongside businesses, community groups, event organisers and strategic partners, you'll help deliver initiatives that showcase everything North East Derbyshire has to offer.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Organising and supporting business networking events, workshops and meetings.
  • Managing and maintaining our customer relationship management (CRM) system and business records.
  • Supporting local businesses by signposting funding, advice and development opportunities.
  • Producing and coordinating our regular Business First e-bulletin.
  • Undertaking research to support funding applications and economic development projects.
  • Supporting project management, monitoring and reporting activities.
  • Maintaining accurate records and helping ensure external funding requirements are met.
  • Producing reports, spreadsheets, correspondence and other documentation.
  • Responding to enquiries from businesses and stakeholders.

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience of developing or maintaining effective administrative systems and processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Good written communication skills and the ability to produce clear reports and business communications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to engage with businesses, partners and colleagues.
  • Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently whilst also contributing positively to a team.
  • Experience of supporting projects, funding programmes, business support activities or partnership working would be particularly beneficial but not essential.

The post is office based at District Council Offices, Mill Lane, Wingerworth with potential for hybrid working subject to operational requirements. The job will require a full driving licence and access to a vehicle as attendance at partner meetings across the County may be required.
