ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT & JOB PURPOSE

At INEOS Energy we produce and trade oil, gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and carbon credits. This is supported by our investments in low carbon technologies, which will help sustain our business through the energy transition. Direct examples include ‘Project Greensand’, our pioneering carbon storage project in the Danish North Sea and our investment in HydrogenOne Capital.

We are currently seeking an experienced Economist to join our team on a 12- month fixed-term basis, starting in December 2026.

Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial UK, the Economist will take a primary role within the Commercial team and be responsible for running asset economics for a subset of INEOS Energy’s operated and non-operated assets, working closely with the wider commercial team in support of value decision-making.

The role will provide exposure to a wide range of commercial activities, and the Economist will interface with other disciplines within INEOS Energy (Finance, Operations, and Subsurface) and with external counterparties.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
