ECU File Processing Technician – Full Time
📍 Maidenhead
💷 Up to £35,000 per year, depending on experience and aptitude
🕘 Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm
🏢 Office based
🎓 Full training provided
Quantum Tuning is looking for a technically minded and analytical person to join our team in Maidenhead, processing ECU files submitted by our dealer network.
Previous ECU tuning experience is not required — full training will be provided. We're much more interested in finding someone with the right aptitude: someone who is very comfortable with computers, has a logical and analytical mind, pays close attention to detail and enjoys understanding how things work.
What you'll be doing
Our dealers upload software files read from vehicle ECUs to our online systems. Your role will be to analyse and modify these files according to the dealer's requirements before returning the completed file. Your day-to-day work will include:
- Receiving and reviewing ECU files submitted by our dealers
- Identifying the vehicle, ECU and software involved
- Analysing ECU software using specialist tools
- Applying the modifications requested by the dealer
- Checking completed files for accuracy before release
- Identifying unusual or potentially problematic files
- Working with our technical team to resolve more complex cases
- Communicating with dealers where further information is required
- Maintaining accurate records of work completed

Who we're looking for
You do not need previous ECU tuning or automotive software experience. We'll provide the specialist training needed to do the job.
What we're looking for is someone who:
- Has very good general computer skills
- Is confident learning new and unfamiliar software
- Has a logical and analytical approach to problem solving
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Can recognise patterns and spot when something doesn't look right
- Is methodical and able to follow technical processes accurately
- Is comfortable working independently and making decisions once trained
- Can concentrate on detailed computer-based work for extended periods
- Is naturally curious about technology and how things work
We're also interested in the things you do outside work.
If you're the person who builds or upgrades your own PCs, modifies games, writes code for fun, experiments with electronics, runs a home server, fixes everyone else's computers or simply enjoys taking technology apart to understand how it works, we'd like to hear about it.
You don't necessarily need formal qualifications in computing or engineering. For this role, technical curiosity, problem-solving ability and aptitude can be just as valuable as what's written on your CV. An interest in cars would be useful, but you don't need to be a car expert. We'll teach you the automotive and ECU-specific knowledge you need.

About the role
This is a permanent, full-time position based at our Maidenhead office, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm. You'll initially work alongside experienced members of our team and receive training in ECU software, our systems and the specialist tools used to analyse and modify files. As your knowledge and experience develop, you'll take responsibility for an increasing range of ECU types and modifications.
