The Opportunity
We are supporting a banking client in the appointment of an experienced Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) Specialist to join their Financial Crime function on an interim basis.

This role will focus on conducting complex Enhanced Due Diligence reviews, supporting regulatory obligations, and helping to mitigate financial crime risk across the business. We are looking to speak with professionals who have a strong background in EDD within a banking environment and are comfortable managing high-risk customer reviews and investigations.
This is a hands-on opportunity requiring an individual who can work independently, navigate complex ownership structures, and apply a risk-based approach to customer due diligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence reviews on high-risk customers.
- Assess customer risk profiles and identify potential financial crime risks.
- Review and analyse complex ownership and control structures.
- Perform research using internal systems and external sources to support due diligence investigations.
- Escalate potential concerns and suspicious activity in line with internal policies and procedures.
- Ensure all customer records and due diligence documentation are maintained to a high standard.
- Support ongoing monitoring activities and periodic customer reviews.
- Work closely with Financial Crime, Compliance, and operational stakeholders to resolve queries and risk issues.
- Maintain awareness of relevant AML, sanctions, and financial crime regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to process improvements and quality assurance initiatives where required.

Experience Required
- Demonstrable experience working as an EDD Specialist, Financial Crime Analyst, or KYC/AML Professional within a banking environment.
- Strong experience conducting Enhanced Due Diligence reviews on high-risk customers.
- Excellent understanding of AML, KYC, sanctions, and wider financial crime regulations.
- Experience reviewing complex corporate structures and beneficial ownership arrangements.
- Strong investigative, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Previous banking experience is essential.
- Available to work 3 days per week in the Birmingham office.
- Available to start at short notice or immediately.
