Edge Network Architect – LAN/WLAN/SD-WAN

Location: Maidenhead / Remote
Contract: 6 months
Rate: Up to £550/day
Contract Type: Contract Inside I35

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Edge Network Architect to support a major enterprise and industrial network transformation programme.

The role will focus on designing secure, resilient and scalable edge networking solutions across LAN, WLAN, SD-WAN and Operational Technology (OT) environments.

You will have the opportunity to work on complex transformation and modernisation initiatives involving industrial networking, cybersecurity, network segmentation and secure connectivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design enterprise edge network architectures covering LAN, WLAN and SD-WAN environments.
  • Assess current-state network infrastructure and define future-state architecture strategies.
  • Produce High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation.
  • Develop network transformation, migration and modernisation roadmaps.
  • Design and optimise OT network architectures across industrial and operational environments.
  • Define secure IT/OT network segmentation strategies.
  • Support architecture for Industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA and related operational platforms.
  • Lead architecture reviews, technical workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to implementation and delivery teams.
  • Review solution designs, assess risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.

Essential Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise networking architecture and design.
  • Strong expertise in LAN switching technologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise WLAN solutions.
  • Proven experience designing SD-WAN architectures.
  • Strong understanding of routing, switching and network segmentation.
  • Experience designing or supporting Operational Technology (OT) networks.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Ethernet, ICS and SCADA environments.
  • Experience implementing secure IT/OT network separation and security controls.
  • Strong understanding of network security architecture and Zero Trust principles.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and consulting skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Cisco CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure.
  • Cisco SD-WAN Specialist certification.
  • Aruba Certified Design Expert.
  • Fortinet NSE certifications.
  • CISSP, GICSP or equivalent cybersecurity certifications.
  • TOGAF or enterprise architecture framework experience.
  • Experience with Cisco, Aruba, HPE, Fortinet, VMware VeloCloud, Juniper or Extreme Networks.
