Private Client Tax Compliance – Senior Manager | Scotland | Hybrid
If you know your way around a complex Self-Assessment, have a strong private client portfolio and can spot a tax issue before it becomes someone else’s problem, this could be worth a look.
I'm working on an opportunity for an experienced Private Client Tax Compliance Senior Manager to join a growing tax team where you'll have genuine responsibility, senior client exposure and the opportunity to help shape how the compliance function develops.
This isn't a role for someone looking to spend the next few years simply reviewing tax returns. You'll have the technical experience to handle complex clients, the commercial mindset to grow relationships and the leadership skills to help develop the people around you.
What you'll be doing
You'll take ownership of your own portfolio of private clients, acting as the main point of contact and ensuring everything is delivered accurately and on time, including:
- Self-Assessment tax returns and Final Declarations
- MTD quarterly reporting
- CGT calculations and Real Time CGT reporting
- Trust registrations and related compliance
- Ad hoc private client tax advisory work
- Reviewing complex work prepared by junior team members
- Managing WIP, fees, proposals and fee increases
- Identifying opportunities to introduce additional services to existing clients
- Building strong, long-term client relationships

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
