The Role
The role is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the GMB media management operation.
This is primarily a craft editing role, alongside responsibility for quality control and media management within Avid systems.
The Editing Media Manager will edit high-quality news and programme content to tight deadlines, using strong editorial judgement and creative craft skills to produce polished, high-impact reports and films. The role requires confident editing of pictures and sound, including the creative use of graphics, music, visual and audio effects, while maintaining GMB's editorial and technical standards.
The postholder will work closely with journalists, producers and programme editors, often under significant time pressure, to shape material, solve editorial and technical problems, and ensure content is ready for transmission. They will quality-check completed packages for PSE, video and audio errors and make any necessary corrections before transmission.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
