Since launching in 2021, The Overlap has become one of the world’s most popular football and sports destinations with more than 38 million monthly views on YouTube, achieving 2.2 billion views across all platforms in 2025. The Overlap spans sports including football, rugby and cricket and is home to fan debates, exclusive interviews, and the smash-hit series Stick to Football. The long-form conversations with the biggest names in football, politics, business and world sport have set a new benchmark for authenticity, insight and storytelling.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for creative, collaborative people who are passionate about great storytelling and want to help shape the future of sports media by creating content that fans genuinely care about.
Your Role
This is an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.
The Overlap is seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working, and football-savvy Editor to join our production team on a 12-month fixed-term contract based in our Manchester Trafford office. Reporting directly to the Senior Producer, this position serves as an excellent gateway for an aspiring professional with sharp editing instincts to develop a long-term career within the sports broadcast and digital media industry. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting day-to-day studio production workflows, thriving in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment where quick-turnaround, premium video content is delivered to millions of fans globally.

As an Editor at The Overlap, you will:
Key Responsibilities
- Fast-Turnaround Video Editing: Cut, assemble, and polish high-quality programmes VT packages, social clips, ad reads and studio inserts under tight broadcast and upload deadlines.
- Editorial Collaboration: Work closely with the Producer and digital teams to interpret creative briefs, select the best footage angles, and ensure the narrative matches the tone of the show.
- Production Workflow Management: Collaborate with the Media Manager to ensure consistency across content workflows, including raw footage ingest, file metadata tagging, archiving, and formatting for various platforms.
- Technical Quality Control: Review final video exports to guarantee broadcast-ready standards for delivery to YouTube, checking for seamless transitions, accurate audio levels, clear sound mixing, and correct graphics placement.
What You'll Need
- Video Editing: Sharp editing instincts with the ability to cut and assemble high-quality multicamera shoots cleanly under tight, same-day transmission deadlines.
- Editing Software: Have an excellent understanding and experience of editing with Adobe Premier Pro and associated programmes with Creative Cloud.
- Workflow Technical Literacy: Confident working across multiple digital content workflows, including video ingest, multi-platform file exports, and post-production asset structuring.
- Meticulous Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision in checking audio levels, video transitions, continuity, and graphics placement before final delivery.
- Proactive Collaboration: A team player who can communicate effectively with editorial, social, and technical crew members while remaining calm under pressure.
- Sports Media Interest: A strong passion for sports broadcasting and a deep familiarity with football culture to ensure creative outputs align with The Overlap's style.

Due to the nature of the position, flexibility is essential. Whilst the majority of this work will be Monday-Friday, this may include working occasional late starts or finishes, weekends and bank holidays, where required.
