Job Description

This role is based in our London office at 240 Blackfriars Road.

The editor of Accountancy Age manages all aspects of content production for Informa TechTarget’s UK & European finance and accounting professional audience.

The role involves managing and producing news, analysis, in-depth and multimedia content, as well as sourcing content from external experts relevant to the topic area. The editor will keep abreast of accounting and finance trends and develop and maintain close connections with accounting and finance professionals, companies, key suppliers, experts and analysts. They will research, write and commission content on AccountancyAge.com, in the form of industry trend articles, news, case studies, analysis or other original material relevant to finance and accounting professionals in the UK and Europe.

The editor is responsible for maximising audience engagement with their target readers by producing newsletters, leveraging search engine and AI optimisation techniques, analysing traffic reports and other core editorial metrics, use of social media and other third-party channels, developing expert contributors and identifying partnership opportunities with external organisations.

Essential job functions:

  • Covering beat and developing understanding of UK & European finance & accounting market
  • Reporting/writing trend stories, features, news, analysis, and other content
  • Sourcing and commissioning freelance contributors
  • Line management, coaching and mentoring a full-time reporter for Accountancy Age
  • Production of regular newsletter
  • To manage key editorial programmes and events such as “35 under 35” and “50 plus 50”
  • Working closely with international and US editorial and marketing teams to develop and execute on content strategies
  • Regular meetings and produce reports for the VP, international editorial
  • Using content management systems, online reporting tools and other production systems
  • Learning and leveraging search engine and AI optimisation techniques and core editorial metrics in all content produced
  • Developing and maintaining industry professionals and experts as sources, contributors or partners
  • Writing content, assigning content, working with external contributors and editing copy
  • Producing multimedia projects and PDF-based premium content, as required
  • Leveraging social media and online communities for content ideas and site visibility
  • Attending, covering and potentially speaking at relevant conferences and events
  • Acting as an ambassador for the brand

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of writing for an audience of accounting / finance professionals and a solid understanding of the issues this audience faces in their daily working lives. Ideally, the candidate will have experience working in a senior editorial position on an accounting / finance / business title. This role is an opportunity for an ambitious finance journalist looking to step into an editor position on one of the most established and best-known brands in its market.

About Accountancy Age

Published since 1969, Accountancy Age is one of the best-known media brands among finance and accounting professionals in the UK. Recently acquired by Informa TechTarget, we are looking for an editorial leader to build the brand, engage its target audience, and develop its position as a multimedia digital publication. You will determine the editorial strategy and priorities, ensure that Accountancy Age has its finger on the pulse of the latest news affecting finance and accounting leaders, and provide the essential analysis that those influential readers require.
