Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Central to the role is your little black book: you'll be constantly out in the market, building and expanding a network of senior business leaders who can be called on as speakers, round table guests, award judges, and sources. The stronger that network, the more it feeds directly into new feature ideas, new event concepts, and new revenue opportunities, so proximity to the region's key markets and decision-makers isn't a nice-to-have, it's how this role drives growth.

Insider runs a busy calendar of business events across the Midlands, and you'll play the central role in shaping them, from sourcing and selecting speakers and judging awards to leading on-stage interviews and chairing high-level round tables. You'll be trusted to make editorial calls independently while working closely with the senior leadership across the business, including sales and events colleagues, to ensure the title's commercial and editorial goals align.

We're looking for a confident, credible communicator who's comfortable in the boardroom, newsroom, and in front of an audience, with an established network of senior business relationships across the Midlands, or the drive to build one quickly and keep growing it.

An NCTJ qualification (or equivalent) is preferred, along with significant business journalism experience and proven experience managing or mentoring journalists.

No two days are the same at Insider. From writing in-depth features and chairing thought-provoking round tables, to hosting prestigious awards dinners and steering the strategic direction of the title, you'll be at the heart of a dynamic, fast-paced team and business community.
