Job Opening: Editor / Senior Editor (Geopolitics & International Affairs)
Eagle Intelligence Reports is an independent geopolitics and foreign policy analysis media platform headquartered in Bucharest that delivers actionable intelligence and strategic analysis of international affairs. Our newsroom operates at the nexus of journalism and policy, producing analytical content that is both timely and timeless for a global audience.
We are looking to hire a full-time, English-language Editor to join our editorial team. For a candidate with relevant experience and demonstrated editorial seniority, the position may be offered at the Senior Editor level.
Position location: United Kingdom preferred; candidates based in the United States will also be considered
Hours: We would prefer the successful candidate to work 12:00–20:00 London time
Details: Full-time, remote, open-ended, subject to ongoing performance evaluation
Reports to: Senior Editor Jonathan Sherry, with Editor-in-Chief involved as necessary
Requirements:
- Native or near-native English proficiency
- At least five years of professional editorial or journalistic experience, preferably covering politics, international affairs, foreign policy, or national security
- Strong news judgment and the ability to identify significant developments independently
- Demonstrated experience editing news and analytical content to a high professional standard
- Excellent line-editing and copyediting skills
- Strong understanding of international affairs, geopolitics, and foreign policy
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadline pressure
- Experience working with journalists, analysts, researchers, or external contributors
- An existing professional network of officials, experts, academics, analysts, or other relevant sources is highly desirable
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in journalism, international affairs, political science, history, communications, or a related field

Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor international political and geopolitical developments
- Independently identify developments suitable for coverage and begin preparing coverage without waiting for specific assignments
- Edit and produce news in accordance with Eagle Intelligence Reports' formats and editorial standards
- Strengthen briefs by identifying their strategic significance rather than simply summarizing events
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, structure, sourcing, and analytical value across published material
- Conduct final reviews of longer reports, analyses, and opinion pieces when editorial workload requires
- Develop relationships with officials, specialists, academics, and other expert sources
- Obtain comments, clarifications, and expert insight to strengthen reporting
- Identify opportunities for original or exclusive reporting
- Craft and refine headlines, decks, and other presentation elements
- Work closely with the wider editorial team to maintain consistent standards across the publication
- Produce and enhance editorial products, particularly geopolitical analysis, as necessary
- Uphold Eagle Intelligence Reports' editorial style and standards, including precision in political, military, intelligence, and diplomatic terminology

Compensation:
- Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and editorial ability
- Compensation is flexible for an especially strong candidate; candidates with greater experience may be considered for appointment as Senior Editor.
This is a news-editing and geopolitical journalism role with a substantial analytical component. We are looking for an editor who combines strong editorial judgment with substantive knowledge of geopolitics and international affairs and who can operate independently during a fast-moving news cycle.
