Overview

Location - Twickenham

Hybrid Working - 3 Days in the Office

Reporting to the Digital Editor and working alongside the Consumer Editor, you’ll learn the craft of consumer journalism, researching and writing news and features for both print and digital. You’ll also learn how to upload your content to our website, how to edit and optimise images, and how to ensure the final story ranks well in Google, so your words can be read by as many people as possible.

Critically, you’ll learn how motoring journalism is more than driving and writing about cars.

You will complete a Journalist Level 5 Apprenticeship with PA Media Academy, which will give you a NCTJ Diploma in Journalism. We’ll ensure you’re fully trained in media law, and you’ll gain insight into other ways we drive users to our market-leading content, including through daily email newsletters and via our social media channels.

Responsibilities

  • Write and upload a wide range of content, including consumer news and features
  • Turn our existing content into the ever-popular slideshows, which are syndicated around the world
  • Assist in the building of our daily email newsletters
  • Identify opportunities to ensure your content works as well across social media - including video - as it does online and in print
  • Play an integral role in the management and optimisation of editorial content through its lifecycle

Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria

  • A minimum of Grade C / 4 (or equivalent) in GCSE English and Maths
  • A positive, flexible attitude and a genuine passion to become a motoring journalist
  • Strong written skills with a sharp eye for detail, spelling, and grammar
  • Excellent time management and the ability to organise your workload to meet deadlines
  • A solid understanding and knowledge of major social media platforms
  • A-Levels or a BTEC Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject or skill set is desirable

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
