EDITORIAL TRAINEE — PAID — FEATURE FILM
Location: [London / Kew Bridge]
Engagement: Full-time, 12th October onwards, through post production.
Department: Editorial
Reporting to: Assistant Editor / VFX Editor / Lead Editor
I am looking for an Editorial Trainee to join the editorial department on an upcoming feature film.
Working closely with the 1st Assistant Editor and VFX Editor, the trainee will provide day to day support across the editorial and VFX workflow, gaining hands-on experience throughout the post production process from the edit through to final post.
This is a practical role within a busy feature film editorial department and would suit someone who is highly organised, technically minded, detail-oriented and looking to develop their career in film editorial and an interest in automotive racing.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the Assistant Editor and VFX Editor with day-to-day editorial tasks.
- Organising and maintaining Avid Media Composer projects, bins and media.
- Preparing and managing exports, reference files and editorial materials.
- Assisting with VFX pulls, turnovers and incoming VFX.
- Tracking VFX shots, versions and deliveries.
- Ingesting and organising media and maintaining clear project structures.
- Preparing sequences and materials for editorial and VFX workflows.
- Checking incoming media and VFX for basic technical issues.
- General editorial administration and troubleshooting.
- Taking on additional responsibilities as experience and confidence develop.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Working knowledge of Avid Media Composer.
- A genuine interest in feature film editing and post production.
- Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Good understanding of basic editorial terminology and workflows.
- Comfortable working with digital media, file structures and technical information.
- Strong computer skills and confidence learning new software and workflows.
- Reliable, methodical and able to work calmly under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of an editorial team.
- A professional and discreet approach to working with unreleased material.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a film or television editorial department.
- Experience working with Avid Media Composer on a short film, television project or feature.
- Interest in VFX, including workflows and turnovers.
- Experience with DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, After Effects or similar software.
- Understanding of codecs, frame rates, resolutions and timecode.
- Previous experience with post production databases, VFX tracking or production paperwork.
- Interest in motor racing and automotive sports

About the Role
You do not need to have extensive feature film experience. We are looking for someone with a good foundation who is keen to learn and develop within a professional editorial environment.
The successful candidate will be trained in the specific workflow of the production and will have the opportunity to work across both editorial and VFX, gaining experience through the different stages of the feature’s post-production.
We are particularly interested in candidates who are organised, proactive, technically curious and meticulous. The ability to learn quickly and follow established workflows is as important as previous experience.
