Hiring for a Freelance Editorial Lead for my Bestselling Substack Newsletter Frugal Chic
If you already read newsletters about money, have a Substack yourself or watch finance content already, this might be for you.
I'm looking for:
- A strong level of financial literacy
- Experience in writing or journalism
- An eye for style and fashion
I currently write the newsletter myself, and I don’t want that to completely disappear. I’ll still be heavily involved in the ideas, opinions, and personality behind it. But after writing a whole book and diving in the deep end with other ventures, I find myself needing support.
That might mean:
- Turning my voice notes, rough drafts, videos, conversations, and chaotic Notes app thoughts into polished newsletters
- Studying trends and industry shifts that can inform new ideas
- Researching topics and finding the facts, studies, statistics, and examples that make an idea stronger
- Fact-checking financial content and making sure we’re using credible, up-to-date sources
- Coming to me with your own ideas, angles, observations, and things you think Frugal Chic® should be talking about
- Understanding my voice well enough to know when something sounds like me and, importantly, when it doesn’t
- Helping develop recurring concepts, frameworks, and editorial series that become recognisable parts of Frugal Chic®

Scope of Work
- 8 newsletters a month, between 800-1200 words each
- Collaborating via calls or voicenotes to come to a final vision
- Hours worked depends on experience and skill-level

- Remote
- With the potential for this to become a full-time role if wanted
Pay
- Indicative budget of £1,000–£2,000 per month, depending on experience, proposed scope, and working arrangement
- Please include your usual freelance rate or proposed monthly retainer in your application
