Improving lives and reducing inequalities through creating welcoming, inclusive opportunities where people connect, learn, and develop.

This vision is at the heart of our Youth, Family and Community Learning (YFCL) Service, and we are looking for skilled, motivated and values-driven individuals to help us make it a reality.

As a Youth, Family and Community Learning Officer, you will play a key role in leading and developing services that support young people, families, adults and communities to achieve positive outcomes through a diverse range of learning, personal development and community engagement opportunities. Working within a multi-disciplinary environment, you will lead the planning, coordination and development of programmes that help individuals develop confidence, skills, resilience and aspirations, improving life chances and supporting people to reach their full potential.

Rooted in the values and principles of Community Learning and Development (CLD), you will promote inclusion, empowerment, self-determination, social justice and lifelong learning. Through a strengths-based approach, you will work alongside individuals, communities and partners to identify needs, build on existing assets and create opportunities for meaningful participation and positive change.

The role involves leading the development and delivery of high-quality programmes and activities across a variety of settings, including local communities, YFCL establishments, schools and partner organisations. You will support and guide Youth, Family and Community Learning Workers and volunteers, ensuring people can connect, learn and develop while helping to reduce inequalities and strengthen community capacity. You will lead the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of project outcomes, ensuring robust evidence of impact is gathered, analysed and used to inform service planning, continuous improvement and future service development.

Working closely with colleagues, partners and stakeholders, you will build and sustain effective relationships that enable responsive, collaborative and impactful service delivery. Partnership working will be central to your success, ensuring that services are accessible, inclusive and tailored to local priorities. You will contribute to service planning, identify opportunities for innovation and development, and support the effective use of resources to maximise impact and outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
