Starting salary for this role is £55,224 (pro rata for part-time colleagues)
This role sits within a well defined pay band, offering clear progression as you grow your career at BCP. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Alternative Provision and SEND Education Advisor to join our Education and Skills team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring that children and young people placed in Alternative Provision (AP) and Inclusion Bases receive safe, high-quality education and support that enables them to thrive.
About The Role
As the Alternative Provision and SEND Education Advisor, you will provide strategic oversight and quality assurance of commissioned Alternative Provision and Inclusion Bases. Through a programme of planned and unannounced visits, you will evaluate the quality of education, safeguarding arrangements, attendance, learner engagement and outcomes for children and young people.
Working closely with schools, providers, SEND services, safeguarding partners and local authority colleagues, you will provide both support and challenge to providers, helping to drive continuous improvement and ensure that every placement is safe, effective and delivers positive outcomes.

You will also contribute to commissioning decisions, identify emerging risks and trends, and provide advice to senior leaders to support service development and strategic planning.
What You'll Be Doing
- Undertaking quality assurance and safeguarding visits to Alternative Provision providers and Inclusion Bases.
- Evaluating the quality of education, attendance, engagement and learner outcomes.
- Assessing safeguarding arrangements, safer recruitment processes and child protection practices.
- Producing detailed reports that identify strengths, areas for development and required actions.
- Monitoring provider compliance with statutory requirements and local authority expectations.
- Supporting providers to improve standards through effective challenge and professional dialogue.
- Working collaboratively with schools, SEND services, social care and safeguarding partners.
- Identifying risks, trends and gaps in provision and contributing to strategic planning.
- Supporting commissioning decisions and provider approval processes.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Significant leadership experience within an educational setting.
- A strong understanding of Alternative Provision, inclusion and SEND.
- Detailed knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
- Experience of quality assurance, audit, inspection or monitoring activity.
- Experience of evaluating educational quality and safeguarding practice.
- Excellent report writing, analytical and communication skills.
- The ability to build strong relationships while providing constructive challenge.
- A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and improving outcomes for children and young people.
