Purpose of the Post
Our Education and Employability project is expanding into North Wales, and this role will establish a consistent Welsh Refugee Council presence across the region, working closely with our internal Move On and Widening of Dispersal services, plus key local partners.
While our South Wales model focuses on delivering direct employability coaching and assessing clients for participation in Welsh Refugee Council programmes, the North Wales approach will be centred on identifying and engaging refugee and asylum-seeking communities across North Wales. This will be followed by building trusted communication channels and ensuring individuals are aware of, and able to access, existing education, training, employability and professional development opportunities available locally and nationally.
This will include supporting access to employment programmes, apprenticeships, further and higher education, vocational training, volunteering opportunities and specialist career pathways. The role will also facilitate workshops and events with external partners, covering topics such as entrepreneurship, self-employment, green careers, and professional re-accreditation. In addition, the postholder may work collaboratively with employers, training providers and other stakeholders to develop targeted work programmes with direct hiring opportunities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
