Location: Barrow, Kendal or Penrith

Contract Type: Fixed term for 24 months
Hours: 22.5 per week

About this opportunity

The Brilliant Futures Fund sits in the new Barrow Rising programme that has been established to diversify and strengthen Barrow’s economy. The Brilliant Futures Fund is £5m of additional funding to be targeted at our schools and educational settings, directly helping our children and young people to fulfil their potential.

We need an experienced and energetic Learning Improvement Specialist with a track record in working with educationalists to have a measurable impact on outcomes. As General Adviser – Brilliant Futures Fund, you will work across Barrow’s schools to develop and deliver projects and maximise the value of the Fund. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your knowledge and skills to support our headteachers and their leadership teams to make sure the Brilliant Futures Fund meets its aims and objectives; making a tangible contribution to the wider Barrow Rising programme.

Join us as the General Adviser for the Brilliant Futures Fund and play a key part in shaping the future for children and young people in Barrow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Brilliant Futures Fund.
  • Being the day-to-day lead on behalf of Westmorland and Furness Council and Barrow Rising for the work of the Brilliant Futures Fund.
  • Build relationships with headteachers and their leadership teams to develop projects for funding, ensuring the funding is being effectively targeted in line with its objectives.
  • Review and monitor performance and wider educational outcome data.
  • Ensure the effective management of the Fund’s budget, monitoring the expenditure and costs against benefits as the programme progresses.
  • Represent the Brilliant Futures Fund at senior stakeholder and council meetings.
  • Resolve any issues that arise in project delivery; collaborating across the council and schools as needed.
