Join Nottinghamshire’s Education Improvement Service and play a pivotal role in raising achievement and improving outcomes for children and young people across the county. As an Education Improvement Adviser, you will work closely with local authority-maintained schools to support, challenge, and intervene to ensure that all pupils can reach their full potential.
As an Education Improvement Adviser, you will play a key role in supporting, challenging and, where necessary, intervening in local authority maintained schools. You will work strategically with headteachers, governors, local authorities and other partners to promote excellence in education and secure the very best outcomes for children.
In This Dynamic Role, You Will
- Support, challenge and, where necessary, intervene in local authority-maintained schools to secure improved outcomes.
- Lead and contribute to school reviews, quality assurance activities and improvement programmes.
- Analyse data and intelligence to identify priorities and target support effectively.
- Provide expert advice and guidance before, during and after Ofsted inspections.
- Build strong relationships with headteachers, governors, trusts and partner organisations.
- Lead professional development and contribute to the Education Improvement Service traded offer.
- Promote collaboration and school-to-school support to strengthen leadership and educational provision.
- Work flexibly as part of a small, highly effective team, contributing to shared priorities while taking ownership of your own areas of responsibility.

To Thrive In This Role, You Should Possess
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree-level qualification.
- Significant leadership experience and a successful track record of school improvement.
- Strong knowledge of effective educational practice and the Ofsted Inspection Framework.
- Experience of supporting improvement beyond your own school through system leadership, partnership working or school-to-school support.
- Excellent analytical, communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to influence, support and challenge senior leaders to secure sustainable improvement.
- A full UK driving licence.
We Are Looking For Candidates Who Demonstrate
- An ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Clear and engaging communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with headteachers, governors, wider partners and multi-academy trusts.
- Ability to think strategically and maintain strategic oversight of school effectiveness across multiple schools, using data and intelligence to identify priorities for improvement.
- Flexibility to respond to changing needs and challenges in education.
- A passion for improving educational outcomes for all children and young people.
