About The Role
Are you flexible, innovative and deeply empathetic and looking for a role where you can truly make a difference?
STARS is in an exciting stage of continued development and expansion. We are seeking a highly skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated learning support assistant to join our inspiring team. We are a Medical PRU committed to ‘Empowering every child to engage with education.’
STARS was judged as outstanding in the most recent Ofsted inspection (February 2024). We work with children and young people with complex medical needs who are unable, either temporarily or longer term, to access their mainstream school. The majority of pupils attend the Drapers Centre in Carshalton where they are able to access the curriculum in small groups in a nurturing and therapeutic setting. Other pupils may receive 1-1 individual tuition at various sites within the London Borough of Sutton including the school room at the Royal Marsden Hospital. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals wishing to make a real difference to young people’s lives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
