About Us

Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Education Limited (CACGEL) operates in the ACT and NSW, supporting 56 Schools and nine Early Learning Centres (ELCs).

The Archdiocesan Schools Office provides a range of services to the system through four directorates including Faith in Learning, School Operations, Corporate Services and Governance and Strategy.

About the Role

The Education Support Lead – Safeguarding sits in the School Operations Directorate and is responsible for delivering Safeguarding services including assessment, intervention, casework and case management in accordance with legislation, CACGEL policy and practice guidelines. The Education Support Lead – Safeguarding role has responsibility for coordinating the day-to-day management and expert and strategic level advice across CACGEL for Safeguarding, identifying and addressing areas of Safeguarding risk, and leading a team to deliver high quality and timely response to Safeguarding related issues.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Maintain high-quality case records and support complaint officers to manage complaints in accordance with the policy.
  • Liaise with external agencies including NSW Ombudsman and the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian, NSW Education Standards Authority, ACT Ombudsman, the ACT Teacher Quality Institute, and Access Canberra.
  • Provide advice and training to principals, school employees and Archdiocesan Schools Office employees regarding compliance with NSW and ACT child protection legislation.
  • Foster a culture of quality frontline service delivery based on collaboration, cooperation, commitment to excellence and professional ethics.

Qualifications and Eligibility

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Accreditation in accordance with Work Teach and Lead in Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn policy
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration and Working With Children Check (WWCC) (evidence of clearances are required prior to commencement)
  • Current Drivers Licence
