About the Work
Frontline Health Professionals has been appointed to a regional local authority framework covering Derby City, Derbyshire, Nottingham City, and Nottinghamshire, delivering therapeutic assessments and therapy that support the delivery of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for children and young people aged 2 to 25.
We are building a bench of registered practitioners across four disciplines. Work is released as individual assignments referred by the commissioning authority. You choose which assignments you take and work to your own schedule within the statutory timescale for each case.
This is genuinely flexible work. Practitioners take anything from a single assessment to a regular caseload alongside substantive employment or private practice.
Disciplines and Requirements
You must hold current HCPC registration throughout, and a valid enhanced DBS certificate with a children's barred list check before any assignment starts.
Educational Psychology
- MSc or Doctorate in Educational Psychology. HCPC registered.
Speech and Language Therapy
- BSc or PGDip minimum; MSc or Doctorate also welcome. HCPC and RCSLT registered.
Occupational Therapy and Sensory Therapy
- BSc or PGDip minimum; MSc or Doctorate also welcome. HCPC and RCOT registered. Experience with Sensory Profile 2 and Ayres formal clinical observations required.
Physiotherapy
- BSc in Physiotherapy. HCPC registered. Paediatric experience essential.
Therapy Assistants (All Disciplines)
- Relevant assistant-level experience in a paediatric therapy setting. You will deliver therapy under the direct supervision of one of our qualified therapists. Assistant roles do not cover assessment work.
- Three or more years of post-qualification practice is preferred across all qualified roles and is a selection factor on some assignments.
What the Work Involves
Depending on the assignment:
- Arranging and carrying out visits to schools, settings, or other agreed venues
- Gathering information from the child or young person, parents and carers, and education staff
- Carrying out assessments using formal standardised and informal observational methods appropriate to the discipline
- Producing a written report on the commissioning authority's EHC needs proforma
- Formal handover to parents, carers, and education staff
- Delivering training or one-to-one modelling for school staff where the assignment requires it
- Supporting the authority at SEND tribunal where instructed

Educational Psychology
- Assessment (standard): £630 per assessment (LTD) | £455 per assessment (PAYE)
- Assessment (tribunal): £1,020 per assessment (LTD) | £750 per assessment (PAYE)
- Therapy delivery, qualified: £100.00 per hour (LTD) | £73.00 per hour (PAYE)
Speech and Language Therapy
- Assessment (standard): £345 per assessment (LTD) | £245 per assessment (PAYE)
- Assessment (tribunal): £705 per assessment (LTD) | £515 per assessment (PAYE)
- Therapy delivery, qualified: £67.50 per hour (LTD) | £48.50 per hour (PAYE)
Occupational Therapy and Sensory Therapy
- Assessment (standard): £450 per assessment (LTD) | £320 per assessment (PAYE)
- Assessment (tribunal): £670 per assessment (LTD) | £485 per assessment (PAYE)
- Therapy delivery, qualified: £72.50 per hour (LTD) | £52.50 per hour (PAYE)
Physiotherapy
- Assessment (standard): £280 per assessment (LTD) | £195 per assessment (PAYE)
- Assessment (tribunal): £545 per assessment (LTD) | £395 per assessment (PAYE)
- Therapy delivery, qualified: £65.00 per hour (LTD) | £47.00 per hour (PAYE)
Therapy Assistants (All Disciplines)
- Therapy delivery, assistant: PAYE only | £25.00 per hour
Travel
Limited company rates are inclusive of travel within 25 miles of the assignment location, with a mileage supplement beyond that. PAYE workers are reimbursed actual business mileage at the HMRC approved rate of £0.55 per mile. Full travel and booking terms are confirmed in writing with each assignment offer.
How You Will Be Engaged and Paid
Both limited company and PAYE rates are shown because the engagement route is determined assignment by assignment, not by preference. Please read this section carefully.
Every assignment is subject to an individual employment status determination before it is offered. Where an assignment is determined to fall outside the off-payroll working rules, it may be delivered through your own limited company at the rate shown. Where an assignment falls inside those rules, or where the agency legislation at section 44 ITEPA 2003 applies, it will be paid through PAYE at the rate shown.
Therapy assistant assignments are PAYE only. Because assistants work under the direct supervision of a qualified therapist, these roles cannot be engaged on a limited company or self-employed basis in any circumstances.
Therapy delivery assignments are more likely to be determined as PAYE than assessment assignments, because of the ongoing and hourly nature of the work.

The limited company rate is a gross fee to your company, from which you are responsible for your own tax, National Insurance, pension, and insurances. The PAYE rate is gross taxable pay, with statutory holiday pay accrued at 12.07% and paid in addition, plus pension auto-enrolment where you are eligible.
Rates are indicative maximums and are subject to the individual assignment, its location, and the status determination for that assignment. We will confirm the applicable rate in writing before you accept any work.
Payment terms are 30 days from receipt of a correct and undisputed invoice or timesheet, aligned to the commissioning authority's payment cycle.
What You Need to Have in Place
For limited company engagements you must hold:
- Public Liability cover of £5,000,000
- Professional Indemnity cover of £5,000,000, including medical malpractice where applicable
For PAYE engagements our own cover applies and you do not need your own policies.
All practitioners must have:
- Current HCPC registration, maintained throughout
- Enhanced DBS with children's barred list check, dated within our compliance policy period
- Right to work in the UK
- Own laptop or equivalent device, with appropriate security controls, for assessment recording and secure transmission of reports
- Own transport, given the geography covered
Clinical and professional supervision is provided by Frontline Health Professionals. It is not the responsibility of the commissioning authority.

Derby City, Nottingham City, and the following districts: Amber Valley, Bolsover, Chesterfield, Derbyshire Dales, Erewash, High Peak, North East Derbyshire, South Derbyshire, Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Broxtowe, Gedling, Mansfield, Newark and Sherwood, Rushcliffe.
You do not need to be able to cover the whole area. Please tell us which districts you can reach and we will match assignments accordingly.
